Alternatively

All the irritations have been raised and registered - some fixes have been implemented that have improved things.

The Techies are working on further solutions to remaining fixes and when they implement them will issue updates in the sticky thread at the top of this section.

For me it's never gonna be classic but it better than it was.

I would like the stalker yellow "highlight" mode to return but I think that's linked to the "I've been quoted" blue highlight so if that gets fixed I'll check the stalker mode then works.

I never ever do that but having just tried it I can confirm that you are correct.

(I tend to follow threads in my stuff and stick to looking in my usual section haunts - and only if I'm really bored do I search out new threads and venture into what's new)

HAH!

I think we may have found another bug in the quotes. Doesn't handle unicode properly.

I suspect there is all sorts of filtering, substitutions, etc., going on, what with interpreting BBCode and the like. And probably not in the correct order too.

For example, in a car profile in your garage, it will convert stuff to and from html a few times and end up displaying the actual text <br /> instead of a line break.

Edit: Which is a bug. Which I have reported. Several times.

Yeah, but all those filtering and substitutions should be happening on strings with a unicode character encoding. Given they can persist a unicode string to the database, it seems very odd those operations would change it.

That <br/> thing is even finding its way into the front page feature headlines now...
