Clicking on a thread to read it

What dictates where I'm taken to when i do this? By that I mean, why sometimes when I've read some/most of an old thread does it take me to the first post, while on other occasions i go to the last post of a thread I've not red anything of, an arbitrarily decided 'since you last visited' position or the top of the last page. Its an annoyance is there some way to fix it?
Also when in mobile view to go to the sub forum I have to scroll back to the top of the page, go back however many pages of thread, or use the short cut button to go to the home page, then back into the sub-forum. A top of page button would help massively here as that would then let me get to the button which sends you back to the subforum- or putting that button at the bottom of the page.

Hi mcdjl,

This is a (very annoying) problem the dev team are aware of, which unfortunately hasn't got a fix yet.

It drives me mad at the best of times so can understand all frustrations with it - I'm hoping it gets sorted soon, I'll update when I can.
