Is the CSR still made?
Discussion
I am waiting for a call back from Caterham, but I would like a little info from owners if possible.
I have read most of the stuff on the internet and many of the forum discussions about owning a CSR but..
the CSR was supposed to be a great development and step forward, and be more tolerable on the road with its suspension set up etc. etc.
So can anyone tell me why they don't seem to be made any more, or at least they are not actively marketed by Caterham?
Is it that they just were not a success demand wise, or are all their innovations now available on current Caterhams?
Basically can you buy, say an R400, with integrated dash and independent suspension.
Cheers
Ed

It filled a niche for those wanting something a little more refined, but the added sophistication just goes against the Caterham ethos, and their core market. Personally, I think once you move away from the incredibly simple, and brilliant, S3 chassis design, there's better cars to spend your money on.
I think that price was key factor. The least powerful version had 200bhp putting up against R400s and 500s which, being lighter were better track cars, as well as being cheaper. Had they produces a 150bhp version and priced it just above an equivilant S5 and I think they might have had more success.

i was in caterhams showroom probably 18 months ago when they said they had just sold the last ever csr ! so i dont think they make them any more
I don't know if this is still interesting... but I was told today that Caterham has restarted production of a CSR 485 model available for delivery outside UK. Don't know about UK dough...Or maybe this is old news to you all ... (sorry, I'm new to this forum)
As someone who has owned an R400 and a CSR, I find the CSR to be a far better road car. I’m not sure what people are talking about it being ‘sophisticated’. If having independent rear suspension makes it sophisticated then I guess it is.
It has a much stiffer chassis than the traditional caterham one and the inboard front dampers. Which in my opinion don’t make a huge amount of difference other than being a good talking point.
I used to find my R400 skipped over bumps in corners making it very unsettled on rough roads. The CSR doesn’t,
My favourite thing about the CSR is the engine, a proper cosworth built 265bhp race engine.

The CSR is no longer made. A friend of mine bought the last one off the production line which was a 260.
Maybe this is the case for the UK, or for the CSR 260 ... but in the rest of Europe we can again order a 485 CSR. See also link to priceless from Belgium: http://www.gpsracing.be/485csr_prijslijst.pdfThis price list dates from August 2017.
I was told by the export manager from Caterham that they currently have some CSR's in production, but only combined with the 2.0L 485 version with 240hp.
Also some dealers already have them in the order book planned.
Wouldn't you also be able to order this model for the UK then?
