It's not even useful - due to the 'no name and shame' policy you can't warn people of rogue traders or bad experiences. I can no longer trust PH as a source for recommendations.
Not sure that's the case. Recommendations re good service/traders and good experiences are allowed, and posters always have a way of telling you to avoid certain traders etc by omission of a good review/recommendation.If you are able to read between the clearly very wide lines it's the same as a bad review.
I still see plenty of recommendations for people to use that PHer and can say nothing despite what I know and having irrefutable evidence of what they did wrong.
If you're going to allow people to post when PHers do well, you have to allow them to alert users when a PHer fks up.

This has always been the way since the start of PH, so there's been no change.Edited by Funk on Friday 9th March 14:59

I think he/she/it is a nob, I couldn’t care less if people think it’s a witch hunt, it offers nothing productive to the site so I see no benefit.
I have also noticed a couple of other new members posting in the same style, will I lose sleep over it? No, but it detracts from what I believe the forums should be.
Yes, there are plenty of argumentative clowns on this site but at least they have an opinion on something which creates a conversation/argument. I see no plus to some random posting a Googled fact then fking off.

After the posts where he's applauding car theft, I'm not sure what he needs to do to get booted off here.
On the plus side, I'm delighted the toothless and inept moderation team and management are giving us free rein to post whatever we like.
Swings and roundabouts?
To be fair to Yipper and playing devils advocate there is nothing in the rules that says you must hate car theft to post. On the plus side, I'm delighted the toothless and inept moderation team and management are giving us free rein to post whatever we like.

You cannot apply moderation by simplying banning users or deleting posts made by those you don't agree with.

Devil's advocate? Comparing a fictional movie chase to a real one, or saying kids can only travel by private jets is nothing but trolling, pure and simple. You cannot apply moderation by simplying banning users or deleting posts made by those you don't agree with.
Its funny, as recently he went through a spell of toning down his posts and some of them actually added value, but now he is back to being just stupid.

I don't mind people having differing opinions; that accounts for 99.9999% of threads on the forum. What I can't stand is blatant trolling and the ineptitude in dealing with it.You cannot apply moderation by simplying banning users or deleting posts made by those you don't agree with.
Meh, I tend not to take myself too seriously, so generally look at things in a lighter-hearted way - perhaps Yipper is the same, sometimes I think "knob" but othertimes I have a little chuckle to myself and the stuff he says and how easily some people get would up by it!
If you don't like him then it's a lot easier to scroll past his contributions and ignore them , than it is to come into another thread and talk about him.
It's all a little bit "Hot Fuzz" around 'ere....!

It's not, though. His capacity for derailing and killing a thread is endless.
Maybe I have missed it - but I've only ever seem him make the odd comment here and there? So I'm not sure how that could kill a thread. There are worse posters on this board (a small french car for people with tall hats) who while posting more coherently cause more of a problem in my opinion. But again I just ignore them

More nonsense from him on the Kit car thread.
"There is now a lot of social stigma attached to driving a kit car. People know it's not the real thing and you look ridiculous driving one. Years of mockery on Top Gear have killed demand."
You own a kit car, don't you. "There is now a lot of social stigma attached to driving a kit car. People know it's not the real thing and you look ridiculous driving one. Years of mockery on Top Gear have killed demand."
The main reasons for the decline in the industry are:-
Increasingly tough government legislation.....tests etc.
Shortage of donor cars.....In the eighties you could buy an old Cortina for £100 and you would have 70% of your parts, plus they were RWD.
People don't want to get their hands dirty.
In other words, not the rubbish that Yipper spouts, I bet he's never seen a kit car in his life.

Agreed on the "hands dirty" . I won't buy a car that I physically cannotThe main reasons for the decline in the industry are:-

work on. Which does somewhat ,increasingly, limit my choice.
As forYipper, just take his posts as light entertainment, not informative.

90% of kit cars are awful.

Possibly a small element of truth mixed in with an OTT opinionated but reasonably well worded comment, designed purely to annoy the other posters (kit car owners) on that thread. Gets exactly the response he wanted, then doesn’t reply to the people he’s annoyed.
I’ve been on the receiving end of it when he first came on here and I thought it was funny. If you think Yipper is trying to upset you, you’re probably correct. Just appreciate his work and move on or try to ignore him if it actually upsets you.
