They are just bullies, and as said the kind that lead a sad existence and have to try and big themselves up with there internet persona.

I also don’t understand why punctuation and spelling are so highly picked on? It’s a Car forum, I as a few of my mates who are big into messing with cars suffer with dyslexia, as long as it legible then I see no problem with it.

I've had some helpful advice over the years to be honest.

It's the internet so there will be idiots. But like in the real world, easily ignored.

They even have their own thread. it is perplexing that people who want to be teachers on a forum, they wouldn't even consider using there intellectual prowess for actual proper educational support, instead of picking minor faults with on a car related forum. If they get such a hard on over it why no join the zafria owners club forum?

i will never understand how middle class white men are so bigoted, because i guarantee in their day to day life they will never actually meet the people they froth at the mouth at.

I think a lot of peoples lives are very oppressive. Wife bullies them, career going nowhere, younger people getting promoted above them, no respect from their kids, no friends.

I suspect that coming on here and getting to play at the role they're normally on the receiving end of is probably cathartic.

Bit pathetic though...

I fail understand why anybody should get angry over a stranger being rude or nasty to them on the internet. You don't know them, they don't know you, so you have no respect for them or their opinion, so it matters not a jot what anybody says about you.

Unless of course you are a delicate snowflake, in which case the internet should come with an delicate snowflake warning.

A lot of it is unnecessary, but not worth getting upset over - I've seen much worse. Either ignore it or have some fun with it.

Surely it's the other way around

I fail understand why anybody should be rude or nasty to a stranger on the internet.

What does it achieve?

People will be be unpleasant to each other on these forums and within reason that is acceptable and comes with the territory. There will always be that risk when venturing into forums and social media.

But that isn't the subject of the this thread.

The thread is about lynchings, where one person attacks another poster and then the herd jump in.
My observation is that the typically the victim is a newbie to the forum. The instigator of the lynching will have a high post count.
You don't need to be a trained pyschologist to work out the dynamics of this. I think there is a very close parallel to bullying.

I have no answers but I would guess that, if there was the will, some patterns could be detected and those posters given a shot across the bows. I accept that new posters would be wise to get a feel for the forum before launching into some fanciful post. I don't think the odd derogatory comment in that instance is a bad thing but it shouldn't be made into a sport.

It works both ways of course, but if people don't get angry and react it dilutes the effect of those trying to cause arguments. Ignoring as we know is always the best option, but some can't resist.

I have also noticed this of late and am tempted to no longer post on PH.

I have seen a few instances where people get really aggressive with their posts; and I've actually asked them would they talk that way to someones face? I get the inevitable yes; but would they really? The anonymity of the internet means people will behave completely different online than they would in person.

I've been to a couple of PH meets and everyone seems nice enough. Is it simply that they are the ones who don't post abuse on here? Or are there people present at the meets who are abusive on here - yet really nice people when you meet them? (In a good way).

I've also noticed the increase in people berating those who modify their cars. I've seen threads where people state they can't understand why people modify cars - they should buy something better out the box etc.

It seems as though PH is losing its car roots - surely this should be a place to celebrate things like modified cars, sports exhausts etc. rather than looking down on it. There is a thread running at the moment about well modified cars which is good - but often people who say they want to fit a sports exhaust etc. are told to grow up, they're selfish tts or asked why would you bother, it'll sound st etc.

Now understand I've put some generalisations in my post and not everyone is like that on PH - but it does feel less of a car enthusiast website than it used to. Especially after reading some of the archived material.
