Hi all,

We really do apologise for the ongoing issues. We are currently assessing malware blocking providers, but I'm afraid this may take some time as we are testing their capabilities.

We'll keep you updated as we go, but please bear with us!

Many thanks,

Jack
To put it quite bluntly, If you guys had any care or sense, you would remove all adverts from the website whilst you are sorting it out as they are a security risk for every user.

Looking back through the thread, Ben acknowledged the issue on 10th August, so why are these dodgy adverts still on the site!?

I find it pretty disgusting and quite frankly sad that this sort of serious issue has been present for over 3 months, and acknowledged by yourselves but seemingly sweet buggery has been done about it.

I'm no expert but honestly how hard can it be? I can name a list of sites as long as my forearm which contain adverts but do not have this issue.

Quite. It's the same st message every time. "We're working on it. It will take time". What a load of st. If they gave even an ounce of care they would have removed the ads as soon as the issue was identified.

Time to promote the use ad blockers here.

Now Virgin media have stepped in on my PC

'Virgin Media has detected potential threats on this site, we have closed this browser for your security' yikes

Now that is an end user experience for PH to be ashamed of.

Had the same warning a few times now,

Windows has detected that your system is currently outdated and corrupted. This will automatically erase your system files. Please follow the instructions immediately to resolve the issue and ensure your system is always up to date.

Then expected to click the ok.

I've had this a few times but didn't realize it's been going on in various guises since July.

WTF is going on if you lot at PH Central haven't sorted it?!!

I don't click on ads at all so it's embedded in various threads, this was NPE Brexit Thread

What the F are you lot playing at?? I'm sure my works IT would have this sorted if it happened on our website and we are a small company. I'll be asking them about it tomorrow and posting their reply!!

Al it's probably not the best idea to post that link in case someone accidentally opens it!

This just came up offering a reward as I'm a Chrome user. Got the beep too. I've been getting these 2/3 times a week for the past month.

Btw, I've corrupted the url so hopefully should anyone inadvertently click on it will fail.

Check out 90% of threads in WF, it's the same response, "Thanks for reporting it, really sorry, we'll sort it, what OS and device are you using" (good time buying question), then if we're lucky there will be a "It's been reported and is in the queue (which must be thousands of items long) no idea when it will be fixed". It would be good if there was an honest response along the lines of "The PH community makes no money and are not important to HM therefore has no resources available unless there's a negative impact to HM, get over it, it's not going to get sorted"

^ this - I'm absolutely OK with ads appearing - I use other forums or websites and nearly every single one* I disable the add blocker except PH

  • Daily Mail is the other exception

Well I have opened it and my computer doesn't have any malware which has been confirmed by a scan. I am only getting the issue on the pistonheads site.

Here is another I got today -

http://sweeps5735.prizesforanybody28.life/87630042...

I am hoping that by posting the links it might help the mods pretend to do something about it.

Thank you, this is probably some of the best advice on the thread. I've downloaded brave and as soon as I went to pistonheads their "shield" blocked 6 ads or trackers. I am going to carry on using it and see how it goes, although pistonheads is the only one of the sites that I use that I get any issue with.

I tried Brave - on PH it blocked 8 ads and trackers before I'd even signed in

Went to the Daily Mail site and it just blocked 6.................... Amazed....

Anyone browsing PH without ad-blocking is mental and needs their head examining. Brave Browser is a great shout but for Chrome you can install uBlock Origins (and I presume the same for Firefox). If you're using IE or Edge then the first sentence applies here too. Get a better browser!

PH is an utter security nightmare and the company should be fking ashamed of itself.

I got re-directed this morning simply by clicking the front page link to the Audi e-Tron. Safari on an iPad with AdBlock enabled

Surely, if I can get re-directed by clicking a PH link, it would suggest that the site has been hacked, rather than a dodgy advertiser sneaking redirects into their ad after it has been put on the site

Even more worrying - I just got a message saying that the website I was trying to open was not actually Pistonheads, but another site trying to mimic it

I think we need someone from PH to confirm whether or not PH has been hacked and whether our (limited) personal information that we've entered on PH is safe

Just stumbled upon this thread - 'glad' to find out out it's not just me. Sad to realise that PH could do something about it, but (seemingly) can't be arsed
