Forum running slow... ad related

I have been struggling with this for a few days myself until i saw this thread.

Downloaded Brave, 108 trackers and 13 adds blocked just navigating to this page from login.

Struggling on iOS safari, adblock plus has been installed, but it’s still happening.

Is an other symptom the screen half losing, you get content for 1/3 the you just scroll white for the rest? You have to scroll back up, then down and it renders.

I was getting the same using Chrome/Android. Plus unresponsive links etc. Pretty sure it will have been the ads loading in a funny order which froze the rest loading.

Every cloud though...Brave is very quick on Android. And equally quick on Windows 10. And no ads!

Yep - I've had it on my phone for a couple of months - enjoying 'clean' PH - but only sought out the PC browser yesterday.

It's seriously thorough - much more accomplished than Chrome plus Ad Block which I had been using. It even deals with anti-ad block responses, e.g. local newspaper websites, which throw up a banner covering a quarter of the page, moaning that you're using an ad-blocker... now gone!

It's probably developed and owned by the FSB, but my field of fks is barren.

Just download Brave on my iPhone, oh my that’s much much better. Top recommendation.

Keeps all your passwords from safari too so don’t even have to worry about that.

Out of interest why does the PH forum struggle so much compared to other forums? I appreciate this forum is busy and probably a bit too much for the operators to cope with, but sometimes it feels like it’s in the dark ages. Is there a reason why it can’t be a slick operation in today’s technology!? Hopefully new owners can run it how it should be.

It's the weight of ads and other marketing trackers they've loaded on it. It's just text after that.

Like this Brave business a lot. If it wasn't for the suggestion I'd have given up. There's only so many times I'll click on one topic and end up with another - after a long wait of course...

Anyone at PH/Haymarket actually get this yet?

Fill the Forums full of adverts and people either leave because the site is impossible to use or download something that blocks those ads.

ETA - I’m also using Brave, makes a massive difference, thanks to those who suggested it.

I've always kind of felt that having some ads on a site that's otherwise free to use is a perfectly reasonable deal, stuff has to be funded somehow.

But I just tried Brave myself (posting from it now), and yes, it's noticeably faster.

This. I have no issue with sites using adverts to fund them. When it's overdone, it fails the user and the advertiser.

I now use Brave for PH and Mobile.de As and when I find another slow site on Chrome, I'll add the bookmark to Brave and use that instead.

Thanks guys for the heads up on Brave. Downloaded, and forum is now usable again. My god it was shyte before, ridiculously slow ....but now all is good again.

I am finding it perfectly fine on laptop (Windows 10 + Chrome) but unusable on iPhone (Chrome).

Any other good forums around we could all migrate to?

It's been tried over and over. But seriously wanting to do one myself, I have the skills and am happy using a mainstream forum software, and keeping it updated Already run a successful (marque specific) forum.

So incredibly slow on mobile, and thread links are taking me to the wrong place. I've got adBlocker on Samsung Internet on Android, so not been any ads, but this is fked.
