I might be wrong but during the exit process I think "Techiedave" changed his user name to "anonymous-user"

Then all his posts were deleted (at his request) and he has returned as "anonymous user" not against the rules as original profile (and posts) were deleted at his request

Welcome to the new PH!
This used to be a friendly forum, hosted and attended by motoring enthusiasts (mainly TVR) who gathered online, at motoring events, at social events to show their cars, talk about them and share tips. Many made long-term relationships and there was a great camaraderie and people enjoyed their visit. Some non-car related posts occurred but were mainly good-natured banter and anyone abusing the site or its members was shown either the error of their ways, or the exit.

Then they started to commercialise, and they started to diversify, cars became incidental, forum topics became contentious, a new generation of PHers emerged.... argumentative, anti authoritarian, bullying, tin-hat wearing and even car hating!

Why did they come?
Because they could!
Why did they stay?
Because they could feel superior, they could say what they like, unchecked!
Why are they tolerated?
Because their posts attract advertising revenue for the car sales site which PH now is.
What happened to the social events?
Some were poorly attended by long-term members for fear the new generation would be there.
Some were stopped by their hosts because many of the new generation had attended them.

PH, as it was, has gone and will never return.

Best bet to avoid the new generation is be selective about which fora you subscribe to!
