A retrograde step that completely ruins PH's Photography & Video section - what's the point of submitting stunning images if they can't be seen properly?
Please restore the enlarge feature.
surely as someone who is fairly into their photography, you'll have image hosting options? seems a bit short sighted to rely on a beta feature of a forum to display them in all their glory. Please restore the enlarge feature.

Carries a cost. PH is a big forum.
Indeed. Hence why in exchange for “free” hosting Thumbsnap insist on a link to the full image, where they show adverts. Amazing that the time over which this has been a “beta” feature can be measured in decades.
i get why it needed to be done on previous posts, but there should be a new service for the forum that allows full functionality going forward.
i guess they're working on it behind the scenes.
like the release of my ban from NP&L hopefully.. i mean come on.. it's been like 5 years! - you've had new owners since!

Some thumbsnap photos are still clickable, so whatever method is being used to disable it isn't infallible.
Also, if you want to go to thumbsnap to get the full res image, you can easily get the code by quoting the post, then paste it into a new window. It's a small faff, but it's there if you really want it.

Whatever service used, it would be great if it would accept a photo larger than 2MB!!
Yes, most modern image uploaders will take much larger if not indefinitely sizes images, even if they they resize them to a given maximum, or selected size, during the upload process.Daniel

But the whole point is for the 'integrated' aspect, i.e. an embedded uploader that adds the IMG tags contained within the post. Otherwise there are a million photo sits out there.hyphen said:

Oh I mean, without a doubt, which is something which has some come from PH themselves. You want to be able to click 'add image' select you photos, including multiple at a time and of a sensible size, and upload them directly into the post on one hit, on pc/laptop/phone/tablet alike.
Be that a fully integrated service within PH, hosting it internally or with AWS S3, or the integration of a third party as was done with thumbsnap but using a 3rd party who deliver an improvement over what we have.
