I've been a member on here for more years than I care to remember. It may be coincidental but it seems to me that since Haymarket took over, there has been a lot more bad feeling on here. Latest example was MitchP posting about his car doors getting dinged in car parks (something I sympathise with) and receiving several derisory comments and name-calling. What's going on?? This used to be a friendly forum full of enthusiasts. Is it just me or has anyone else noticed this?

Yeah,

I too have noticed this about PH, which is why I rarely post. There are too many very silly people on here. It seems rare now that there is a decent post that is worth reading.

I've noticed a lot of arguments instead of the polite disagreements which we used to have so I tend to leave those threads fairly early.

What do you expect from a public forum?

But it's always been public...why the change so recently? Why has PH suddenly 'attracted' this element?

I have noticed that more often than not, the abusers who think personal insults will win an argument haven't bothered to fill in their profiles and hardly ever start threads themselves or post much about cars. Perhaps they are just here for an argument.

Glad it's not just me! There has always been friendly rivalry between owners of different marques...but I don't remember too many examples of outright rudeness...or calling someone a pillock or a tt etc. Seems to go on regularly here nowadays!

Might be worth setting up a seperate forum inside PH for "offical members" who pay a small yearly contribution + fully disclose their modes of transport... like Porsche Owners club or something... but, by PH.

My point to that post was so that topics are moderated better... and people without manners + just post to insult, are banned and have to re-contribute - so the "club" still wins.

What annoys me is the level of arrogance displayed by some of the establishment. I can think of a couple of individuals who seem to take pleasure in discrediting others for the sake of it - for no other reason it would seem, than because they think they have a right to.

Good idea. But I guess it would be pretty time consuming for the mods. Still, it wouldn't be good for Haymarket if all their members deserted. Maybe they need to do something??

Any moderators care to comment??

On the other hand, we all appreciate their advice when we have questions. I think it's pretty impressive that alot of them are still here given the abuse some of them get.

If it's any help, I did read an article on PistonHeads in a 'RedLine' magazine on Saturday whilst waiting for my MOT?

To be fair, Haymarket have made massive steps forward with this site in terms of how well it runs, and how many more users there are. The more people there are, the more likely you are going to get dissagreements, simple fact of life.

P&P will always be that way, but I think the other forums are almost perfect in balance between banter and information.

Redline eek what was that about?

I see your points chaps, and PH is keen to ensure we keep the standard of users as high as possible. Recently we have introduced a ban on certain forums for new members (P&P and SP&L) and we are certainly 'removing' many characters that we don't feel are right for the site.

PH was once a small village, and now it has become a city despite us not spending a penny on marketing for new members. The growth is organic and shows no signs of slowing down.

We will keep an eye on things, but will also try to avoid heavy- handed moderation where possible.
