Filling In Your My Cars Section

I've already posted this in GG, but i thought it might get viewed a bit more in here:

There's quite a lot of people on here without anything in their car section of their profile, this being a car website it makes it a bit dull when you want to read about someones car to find they don't list it.

So i made a short how-to to fill it in.

Go to:
Edit Your Profile

• Then on the left about half way down, click My Cars

• Then on the bottom right, click ADD car

• Fill in as many details as you can

• Add a URL to a photo of your car, or a stock photo if you don't have any photos, i suggest TinyPic to host your photos as it's idiot proof and doesn't require you to sign up.

• Then click ok

• You can then go back and fill in costs, like servicing etc, for example i've filled them in for my MINI Cooper S and my VX220

Et Voila, you are now actively contributing to PH being a nice place

We are looking to add a few new features to the members area in the near future to promote this side of the site a bit more, including the ability to hide your cars in some way as a quite a few people worry about making this information public.

If you made the car ownership able to be hidden except to people on his my mates list that might work.

One thing that would be really appreciated is on the Big Blue skin is having a shortcut directly to My Cars, maybe next to the RSS Feed or the My Mates Button.

I did it by clicking the link that says my cars in the first post, and from then on its plain sailing!!

Agreed there are quite a few functions missing from Big Blue, links to the member search would be useful too.

Both of those can be reached in two clicks via either the 'My Profile' or 'My Mates' links, but we will bear it in mind and try to add them when we next update these areas.

They used to go to the same place, until i and a few others asked that one went to edit your profile and one to view it

It lets you see who is online and gives you a quick link to their profiles so you can see what they have been posting.

You should be able to edit anything which you put in there, unless i'm missing your point

I've made this thread into an FAQ to make it a bit easier to spot and when I get chance I will include it as part of the PH User Guide wiki that I intend to create.
