When I search (either Gassing Station or PistonHeads) with 'Last Month' selected as period it always returns no matches.

However, the same search for 'Last six months' or 'Last week' returns results (within the last month).

The search string I was using was 'Alfa' by the way.

An Alfa thing broken ? That's a surprise.

Yep, just noticed that myself - trying to search for stuff on 'aerial' or 'radio' - it works for 'last 6 months' yet one of the threads was dated 7th March so this should be picked up with last month or last week but isn't . Ted???

OK Ted, more on the Search engine... If I enter 'radio reception' in the search topic and ask it to search 'all forums' for the 'last 6 months' it finds nothing, however, if I try the same search on 'all TVR forums' it finds several items. Now 'all TVR forums' must be a subset of 'all forums' so there appears to be something wrong in the logic there. Sorry Rich...

No, thanks for the feedback. I'll get back to my Venn diagrams (never thought they'd be of use at the time!)

More on the search engine...

I wanted to quickly locate the thread "Blue Tuscan in Basingstoke?", so used the search engine to search for "basingstoke" in all fora. It didn't find it!

Ok, I thought, its probably not searching the title. However, looking inside the thread it does contain several instances of "Basingstoke".

So next I thought it might be case sensitive, so I searched on "Basingstoke", but still no hits.

I've also tried each of the date ranges (last week, last month, etc.) in case that bug still remained, but still no hit.

Over to you, Ted.

Oh bugger. Classic 'it works on my machine' comment coming up.

I just tried it. Searched for 'basingstoke' in 'ALL TVR FORUMS' for the last month. It returned it ok.

Can you spot what you might be doing differently?

JonRB,

It works for me - you're not using the Gen Gassing All option by mistake are you ?

Ok, some results.

Using "TVR (all)" does find it. I guess I thought "General Gassing (all)" was all fora in the Gassing Station, but on reflection I can see that it isn't!

One thing to note though is that the date range seems to apply to the date the thread was started, rather than the date of the most recent post.
When I did my search on "Basingstoke" with "Last Week" set, it didn't find it, even though there has been a post to that thread yesterday. I had to select "Last Month" which then did find it. The date the thread was started was 12th March (ie. over a week ago).

That explains my findings then!
