Also never sold a car on here, its always been Auto Trader that shifted it, though that didnt stop PH claiming it had been 'sold through pistonheads!'
The 'sold by PistonHeads' phrase is selected by the user? There are other options for you to choose if you wish smile

As for the searchability, I believe Pete is looking at measures to improve this as I type.

Sold 2 and bought 2 cars from PH, not had an experience yet which hasn't been utterly painless. Its been great, who needs Autotrader?

Just returned from a very agreeable run down to the South West, collected the second car that I have bought from PH classifieds. This time a Rav-4 in need of a bit of fettling but I am well pleased with it. Previously we bought a Q5 - Other end of the scale for value but a good and friendly deal all the same.

Interesting thing is that neither vendor had even heard the name Pistonheads! Are there other ways to advertise in the classifieds without being a user of the forum?

Yes by paying.

I hate what it costs, but autotrader is where 99 percent of the public look.

My 2p if selling:
eBay, gumtree, FB for sheds or sub 2k cars
PH for Motorsport/high end unique stuff
Autotrader for everything else

If I'm buying I find eBay impossibly difficult to navigate and filter, same for FB. I only really look ok autotrader and gumtree, but with a closer radius

PH for sports cars (and very reasonable fees)
Gumtree for cheap stuff (no fees at all)
Autotrader for everything else (and suck up the huge fees)

EDIT: joropug beat be to it!

I find the PH classifieds so hard to search that I just don't bother anymore. I must have lost some nice cars but its nothing like the other main auto site where you can search on age, mileage, colour, and keywords.
8 years later and it's still crap.

PH missed the boat by a mile. Classifieds basically haven't improved significantly in probably a decade.

No mobile app, a lot of basic filters missing. Still better than the mainstream alternatives for the non mainstream stuff like lotus. Owners club websites are the best source of used cars for me now though.
