i don't think he can be accused of hiding the true mileage
In answer to the queries on the 86k mileage, yep I had it adjusted for my company's track days as I really didn't wish our customers driving it seeing an odo with 200k plus on - no matter how tidy the car.

Now the Murcielago is retired from the track and back on the road the accurate mileage of 248,048 is now showing.

alpgta - I've read much about John Crewdson he was an epic Helicopter pilot.
I know that Roger Becker (Lotus' chief test driver) was the driver of the white Esprit during the Sardinia sequences in 'The Spy Who Loved Me'.
Some may remember the clip where the Esprit comes around a corner to be confronted by the Jet Ranger hovering 'firing' at the car.
Roger Becker had discussed with John Crewdson that the chopper needed to be around 20ft above the Esprit at this point. In fact when the Esprit appeared the Lotus only just got under its skids by inches such was its height. I think Becker got a big shock so I'm told..

Bobbo 89 - yep I still live not too far from Holmfirth now. So yep guilty as charged.
And to all those who have commented positively thanks it really is appreciated. It nearly came close on at least two occasions to being given up as a bad job.

I'm always getting asked what I think its worth. I don't give it much thought really it'll never be sold so its irrelevant.
Its back in Evo in a couple of months.

Simon, I've seen your write up in this month's Evo, the car is looking great !

What did the misfire you refer to here turn out to be in the end ?

Who did the paintwork on the car ? I can't seem to find a good bodyshop to paint balloon white to an acceptable standard... Not helped by the fact that 10+ years ago the factory paint wasn't too consistent....
Misfire was a faulty sensor thankfully - nothing serious. Balloon white is a bas**rd to paint. We've got a chap who works in our bodyshop who does pearl colours really well. He repainted the 640 in white and the Murcie in Arancio. We don't normally do outside jobs but I'd be happy to get you a quote if you could get your car to our place in the West Midlands

Just seen the latest update in Evo. That's annoying. Popping back into neutral when lifting off the power is often worn selector forks, or play in the rail. I don't know if 3rd & 5th are on the same rail though. Please keep us updated, and show us some photos of the 'box in bits if you get the chance ! clap

ETA... Just remembered it is a 6 speed of course, 3rd and 5th may well be on the same rail.... Good luck with the fix, lets hope it's speedy and not too expensive !
Cost £300 for Lambo Manchester to re-align the forks. I took the box up on a trailer though..Its spot on now. I could also do with a new chrome selector H plate as the points in-between where the gearstick rests are razor sharp.

I'm aware there must be some who groan when they hear about this car again. Apologies

The Murcielago is indeed off to New Zealand for a tour amongst other things I’m hoping to get 5000 miles on it there.

Just returned from Scandinavia for a second time this year driving from Rotterdam to Hamburg, Copenhagen, Oslo, then right through Norway itself and back covering 4200 miles.
The more miles it does the smoother it seems to drive.

Here it is crossing the Oresund Bridge between Denmark and Sweden..

Other Murcielago is a Danish registered manual 2004 with identical orange interior by the way - here pictured in northern Norway.

Nice chap at the NZ embassy was very helpful a few months back and explained that a deposit may be required and a cartnet which is a document allowing you to temporarily take the car in without officially importing it.

Obiwan..I’d love an SVJ but I’m not in that league unfortunately. My Murcielago which I doubt is worth much more than a sack of carrots will have to do.
