I would like, to know from you experts, if the differences are so BIG (ok the power and cc) between the 2 models:

reliability
road grip
sound
the delivery discrepancies between the two motors
and of course if you hear extra 60 hp!!!!!

In short, strengths and weaknesses, because I can not find a nice 580 manual and then I was looking at a 640 manual.
how about?
so much difference ???
thanks to all in advance

As no one has replied I will add my own small amount of knowledge as an owner, from memory the road tests at the time of the 640 suggested that it was an improvement in every area including a noticeable performance leap. My money would go on the later car given a choice however a Murcie is a fantastic car regardless of age, size and power.

thanks so much for ONLY answer.
I thought to be a forum for real fans (I write in many forums because I have some supercar) and instead perhaps everyone is too jealous of his Murcy .....

I just wanted to know if there is so much difference as it seems ....

They are in crisis because it is my Murcy. manual
I wanted orange, but I am adapting to the color black.
They have proposed to paint it orange ...

Someone on this forum must have owned both cars and hopefully they post a reply however my advice would be find a 640 manual and never lose a penny on your investment. If you are ever near Bedfordshire I have a 670 you can try.

You have a Shamal, now there's a fascinating car!

I'd say thats its an LP-640 every time. Engine is well documented, but the asymetric lower oil cooler, the front spoiler and rear lights change the looks of the car. The ride geometry was altered slighty, the engine is fantastic in both guises, but there's just a little more in the 640. I beleive carbo ceramics were also offered as options. If you can find a manual one then we'll done you. I think that LP640 was when e-gear actually started to work.

Engine, suspension, driveshafts, power delivery all far better in the 640.
the 6.2 was described as a dinosaur by mosi on PH once, until I went up to a 640 I hadn't realised just what a difference they are.

The 6.2 is still a fantastic car though.

You will probably never find a manual 640 as they are very rare.

The egear isn't for everybody, you can however convert the egear to manual at a rough cost of 10k as it is a manual box controled by hydraulics

Wow you can convert back to manual! sounds interesting but must say my 670 egear is very smooth and a massive improvement on earlier cars that I owned in the past.

ANDY:yesss shamal was my youth dream .....
as the Alfa ES30.

also countach but now has sky-high prices for me.

10k with fantastic news that you can convert to manual: someone did that?
it seems too simple and cheap.
a friend of mine did it in a Mercedes 500E and has spent a lot, and a lot of problems with electronic control .....

but nobody (at home has both ...) tells me how they go in the street ... 2 Murcy.

PS: i found 2 murcy black manual in this days but a problem is: NOT service regular!!
i see many murcy with not regular service lambo....
for me it's a problem

I had a Countach QV for nearly ten years, I loved it at the time but have to say my Murcie gives me bigger smiles (easy to say now I have scratched the Countach itch) I would not worry too much about missing service history if it checks out ok with a specialist. I service mine at an MD every year though when you look underneath these things are not that complicated and its probably a waste of money, unfortunately you need the stamps in the book to retain the values and the dealers know this.

I very envy (good)clap you for the countach.
fantastic: THE supercar for me.

you are right for the service, but in Italy ,if you do not have all the stamps Lambo (!),do not sell more, or at half price ... and here also have an "obsession" for a few km (max 40 / 50.k km ... )

I am increasingly in crisis: orange sold weeping(88k km price EUR 92k) are 2 black (!) with a few km but no service and 106 / 114k Euros ..... banghead
not destiny!

845ste.

If you are referring to the Orange one in Paris - I bought it !

The tyres were thin, the steering rack gaiters were ripped and it dripped oil as it drove around the workshop, and there is a question over what was done to the engine, the garage that did the work still exists on Google Streetmap but they don't answer the phone.

Whilst there they put the car on a ramp and I rang Carrera Sport, and among horror stories of their being cracks in the blocks when cast and filled with "sealant", they did offer that as the engine work was carried out a couple of years ago and the car still worked, perhaps it is ok ???

The car pulled well, tracked straight and there was no clutch slip. It appears a little tired, but I am happy to do the work to pull it back.

You only live once and it is only money......

Using my legendary car buying skills I managed to negotiate a 3 hour warranty. That will get me to Calais once I am in the UK I can be recovered, I am not sure I would ever have returned it to Paris for some warranty work anyway.

I plan to take it to Carrera Sport to get it checked over, and see how it goes..

I Fly out on Weds so if you anybody spots an Orange Murci by the side of the motorway between Paris and Calais its me.

ciao Del,
was that !!!!!!

had not all the coupons lambo. 2 generic workshops ....

that service of 48.00km does not exist.

I've also called RS garage (which made the engine ...): I spoke one time, say five years ago made engine ..... no invoice .... no declaration ... then I do not have more neither the phone nor responded to email !!!!.

They did not give WARRANTY.,
i Though: you have problems back in Paris ???

many car body repairs to do and interior.

I think the engine have not repristin well and completely ... but a job to sell it fast.

He had broken distribution chain .....

I admire you for your courage.

i see 4 murcy in europe.

a curiosity if I can ask: 92.000e wanted ... I had offered 85.000e .... and you how much you paid?
however now you have a Murcyclap
ciao

Hello Del Mar I was also thinking about going to see your Murcie in Paris. I decided to carry on looking. I hope all turns out well for you ( good luck on Thursday) and am very interested in knowing how you get on.
I am in Essex not far from you and hopefully one day soon will have my own Murcielago.

Great news.
I looked out and saw the rain and was wondering how you was getting along with the downpour.
Wished I could be as brave as you was .
Looking forward to your story of your trip
