Top Gear Crashes Diablo

Whilst filming Top Gear a rather beautiful Diablo has been run off the road into a ditch by Paddy McGuiness.
He is fine and the Off looks entirely like driver error.
I really feel for the Owner.
I bet he wasn't told who was going to be driving it. Paddy clearly cannot drive well, and Top Gear giving him that car in wet conditions is bad decision making on their part.
Hope it is fully restored.

They initially approached me to use my Diablo.
The producer was very open and honest about what they’d do and the concerns of the other two owners eg re standing starts.
I was concerned about the track use. They offered to buy new tyres.
My kids were very keen on me letting them do it, for obvious reasons, but they now see that I made the right call.
I didn’t expect the problem to be driving in a straight line!

A lesson there
VV different to the Beaulieu team back in 2001 when they wanted some video footage of a moving Countach .
They were in a camera car five metres ahead , leaning out of the open tailgate with a movie camera running .
We were driving at no more than 20 mph , but they called a halt after less than a minute because THEY were worried that stones flicked up by the camera car might hit the Countach .
I hadn’t noticed anything , but they didn’t feel comfortable.
That,s what I call respecting old and rare machinery , and in turn , my respect for them grew exponentially.
After that I was happy to leave the car with them for a year for their 2002-2003 Supercar Exhibition .
They looked after that car so carefully ..... amazing tales therein .
