A diablo I always worked toward, but now being in a position to own i actually feel a Murci is probably the better proposition (tested the AV and didnt like it) as its still analogue, manual and a genuine Lambo with a hint more of Audi reliability.
Love the Diablo and Murci though and a bit torn, just think i’ll get more out of the Murci, i dont want a garage queen and I feel the Diablo would be more that as its a little more delicate.

Tough one.. it could be that the fire damage history is priced in at £200K but it's not exactly cheap & that same history & especially that photo will haunt the car forever..If you are considering a 'forever' car and it really has been properly restored it could be worth checking out.
Assuming everything would be good cosmetically but what is the potential for frame damage ?
For me I prefer the look of the Diablo to the Murci although I do think its aging well. I was very interested in the light blue Murci manual in JZM some months ago which sold. I should have probably bought that as at 150+k it was a good buy with only 9k miles on the clock and plenty of recent expenditure. I do as well like the earlier Diablo SV and out of all of them it would be that but it depends on what your intended use is.

Both are a joy but an early Diablo is much more analogue. Love the Diablo and Murci though and a bit torn, just think i’ll get more out of the Murci, i dont want a garage queen and I feel the Diablo would be more that as its a little more delicate.
No abs, no traction control, no four wheel drive, no power steering, no airbags, old style agricultural gear change.
Just you.
Only car that I’ve ever spun on a public road.
So didn’t surprise me what happened on Top Gear
Murci has a lot more stuff to go wrong.

Agree here, the 2wd Diablos are savage and raw, also the design of the Murci I have never really appreciated, too sloping on the rear, too fat on the hips, one American chap called it 'cockroach shape' ouch, not my words, it lacks drama IMO, the diablo is the only car in the world where you can see the rear from the front. It's like a bodybuilder doing a lat spread. No abs, no traction control, no four wheel drive, no power steering, no airbags, old style agricultural gear change.

They’re not savage, not compared to say an AV SV, IMHO.
But in an AV SV you still have flappy paddle and computers to help you drive it without killing yourself, with the 2wd Diablos that responsibility is 100% with you, so the thrill IMO is still, better in the Diablo, as you're 'on your own', so more adrenalin.OSMojo said:

I have always loved the older cars in particular.
But the AV SV is absolutely brutal in a way that shows how much progress has been made in performance since the Miura was launched.

Fair enough, I agree all scissor door lambos are amazing, and Miura and a few others.I love them all.

I'm looking for a Diablo and my current thinking is an early 2WD. I like the idea of 2WD .. weight and driver experience. Also the purity of the early ones.
What do others think?
I'm after one too, a survivor Diablo, so not a concours shelf queen, I don't care about mileage or part service history, or even if it's lhd or rhd, a bit shabby etc, to be reflected in the asking price, (as long as it is a non accident car) as it'll be a daily driver. What do others think?
