The replica would be the one for the looks. The real Miura experience it is not.
What about this one.

1966 LAMBORGHINI 400 GT Monza (1 Made)
The one-off Monza 400 was commissioned by an American and built on a 400 GT 2+2 chassis. This one off was one of the last cars built by Italian coachbuilder Neri & Bonacini, the same shop that built the GTV chassis. The aluminium body for this car was completed in June of 1966.
The Monza used a Ferrari windshield and had similar styling to the '64 GTO although being a fastback. The overall styling was pleasant with the exception of the awkward 'targa' looking pillars immediately behind the side windows. The body was handbuilt in aluminum and finished in red.
The interior while very basic in overall styling, was quite functional and purpose built.
On April 8, 1967 this car was sold to someone in Spain. The whereabouts of this car today is unknown.
There was only one built by Neri & Bonacini but there are rumors of a copy by Signor Giordanengo of Puro Sangue.

Prova(of Countach replica fame) used to make a Miura rep apparently, there has been talk of one of the current Diablo rep manufacturers buying the moulds...
Of course it would be all for nought unless you made the effort to make a convincing-looking replica, but it would still be way cheaper (not to mention more attainable) than an original.
They already do - a company called Lamberti, who already do Countach and Diablo replicas, who used to be based in England but are now based in Italy.
I'd love a Miura replica as I've heard that they actually drive better than the original, and with the right engine (say an Alfa Romeo 3.0 V6 with a sports exhaust system) would sound about right too.
I've seen a few - two white ones, two red ones and a purple one, and they've all been realistically finished inside and out (only the numberplate on one of them gave it away), and with a second-hand price tag of just over £10k for a good one, they're up there on my 'must buy at some point if I have the cash' cars.
Mmmh, almost no thing beats a LP400 in raw attitude.
Just one shape, no overdoing extras. I like it.
Also nice
Cobra Daytona (1965)
Bertone's Carabo (1968)
Maserati Boomerang (1972) by Giorgetto Giugiaro
Ferrari P4 (1966) V12 450 bhp, 850 kgs.
Ferrari P6 (1968) by Leonardo Fioravanti / PininFarina. looks like an early BB512 to me . . .
Jag XJ 13 and the 540 bhp 5.3 V12 engine . . .
Maserati A6G CS by Pinin Farina

Serenissima had a proper full race 3 litre V8 I think..was probably good for around 350/400bhp. The engine was certainly (unsuccessfully) used in F1.
How about the ATS for another bit of esoteric italian exotica?
Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead, but since no-one has obliged you yet:

If I weren't downloading some OSX updates with the standard Imac 33k modem - my isdn fails this evening - I'd search and post some yummie Italian wheels. But hey: which ones did we miss? I guess most of those beauties are covered?
Anyone?
Not italian, but definately mediterranean - have we covered off Pegasos yet?
A reason to visit Carmet next year:
MIURA REUNION 2005
The 2nd Miura Reunion will be held at 'The Quail' (A Motorsports Gathering) in August of 2005 at Carmel, California in celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the Miura. The first historic event in 2000 saw a record gathering of Miuras and was a special event at the same location. Under the patronage of Miura enthusiast and owner Michael Kadoorie, the upcoming event promises to be the best yet, with examples of the P400, P400S and P400SV expected. The 2005 event is an invitational and spaces are limited so contact Amy Williams by email at awilliams@valleyresortmgt.com to register as early as possible.
I'll get my coat . . .

When people, like my wife's friends (to try and involve me in their boring dinner-party conversation)say to me "so Yertis, what is your dream car?" I reply "Lamborghini Espada, preferably Series 2". They look blank so I go and fish out a pic and they just sort of grunt and turn back to how much their house has increased in value in the last six months, and I stare out of the window at the traffic crawling through the damp November evening.
The lonliness of the car geek!
We've all been there.
A glorious double necro-post... a 2004 thread resurrected by Ted in 2006 and then Dink today!
Shame so many of the links are out of date, but I've just trawled through all the pages and there is still plenty of beauty to be found.
The way modern car 'design' and legislation is going, true petrolheads will end up only wanting true classics or replicas of said cars (if legal)... the day these old, beautiful, organic cars are made illegal will be a very sad one.
I have numerous strong desires for certain cars in this thread, but sadly none of them are the 'undervalued' 'unknown' Italian beauty that you can pick up for less than £20k... they're expensive even for a car you *know* is going to be unreliable and handle badly by modern standards...
