This is the thread of the Gods, of cars for which the phrase "supercars" was coined...

Interestingly very little mention so far of the "red cars" from up the road. Let's try and keep it that way....

Always loved lambo's well apart from the anniversary countache lol.

Miura has to be my fav, would love to see the ZN-75 in person. Was supposed to be bought in the late 80's early 90's by a UK lambo museum but never happened? traced it up to late 90's but dont know where it is now.

Never been in one yet, one day soon. Almost at the classic motor show in nec but last place was booked 5 min before I got there.

No dinkel I didn't mean red cars per se, but the red cars with a horse as their logo. The older I get, the less I like them... illogical I know.

Ssssh I know...

I was actually more interested in the fact that none of us had really mentioned Ferrari very much - which is cool becuase they get plenty enough adulation everywhere else...

Dinkel - where do you find these things??? ACE thread! Never come across so many knowledgeable car nuts!

To complete my dream garage I'd love to blow a couple of million on this lot:

From Europe:
Lola T70 MkIIIB
Mercedes-Benz 600 SWB - the choice of despots, Jack Nicholson, Witches of Eastwick
Mercedes-Benz 300SEL 6.3 - shockingly quick
Koenigsegg CC8S - DRIVEN. It's something else. Def the pick of the current £300K+ hypercars!
Lamborghini 350GT
Maserati Ghibli Spyder - sorely tempted by green one in current Classic & Sports Car ad
Jensen Interceptor - next to Lamborghini Espada, the coolest name for a car, period.
Iso Grifo - my favourite Matchbox car ever.
De Tomaso Longchamps
Facel Vega HK500 - THAT DASHBOARD - anorak fact, it's hand-painted metal, not wood!

From USA:
1967 Shelby Mustang "Eleanor"
Dodge Charger 440 R/T - Yeehar!
1967 Chevrolet Corvette L88 (excepting the two L88 ZL1's, the pinnacle of Corvette lunacy!)
1958 Chevrolet Impala

Strictly no 'red things'.

I have been lucky enough to have a go in one of these:

Not the most beautiful of the cars on this thread. But its got a Lambo V12 in a front-mid position so that it is just in front of your feet.

The noise in the cabin is simply glorious.

And the one I drove was orange !

But the earlier T70s with single headlight units are sooo much prettier....

Monteverdi is gorgeous!

I think the plane behind it is pretty trick too. I don't know the name of it but I think it's regarded as "the F*rr*ri" of planes. A friend of mine had one (looked like this one anyway) and it was designed by a plane guru in such a way that the airframe could be specified to have plain piston engines, turboprops or jets.

What are peoples thoughts on the DeTomaso Pantera? I love these, almost cried when I saw what Quentin Wilson did to Jeremy Clarkson's one, thought fair play to him, he paid to have it completely restored after he crashed it.

(Not that I have any love for JC, just love the Pantera)

There was a stunning blue one on Autotrader a while back, but well, well out of my price bracket.

There are a few Pantera’s to be had at present albeit the one on the autotrader/topmarques site is a ball crushing £75k, I think not.

The link I posted earlier to Sporticus has one of the very last with only 8k on the clock and is POA. I’ve had chats with the people and they are looking for £50k for her and for those who know their Pantera’s carried the plate F1ASH

Emilia (the old concessionaires) have another couple of GT5’s both around the £40k mark which to me seems like a reasonable bet as I couldn’t see them falling much below that.

I’ve successful managed to E-Bay myself into the De Tomaso Automobiles book to add to the collection and to Zero, TopS et al I give you

PS If once again I’ve failed dismally to post a photo, please help! Cars I can do, button pressing not so good!

I can't put my finger on what's wrong with the Jarama - it's not exactly ugly is it but it just looks... heavy. But I still like it, for what it is.

I have to admit it grows on you the more you look at it.

I suppose I could live with one.

Anyone else here used to get Supercar Classics? I had them all from issue 1 but Mum threw them away whan I was at Art College. But now I have Ebay...just checking out Summer '84, the Espada feature. Yes, the dashboard is very Cessna...

I really wish Dinks hadn't started this thread
