I'll second that - it's reawakened some primal instinct in me to hoon around in some outrageous piece of classic italian exotica
I can see myself spending a little too much time on autotrader etc...

Out of curiousity - anyone here own or have experience of a Maserati Ghibli? I'd love to find out more about these beauties

Well, everytime I see one I stand flabergasted for a moment or 22. So far my experience.

Yeah - just before I got my 8 I saw a P250 Urraco, mint looking for somewhere lower than £20k.

Was tempted to have a look but would hardly make a daily driver. Performance on paper wasnt to far off the 8 either

That's the thing with these cars of course - it's not what they do but the way that they do it, a sensory thing, looks, sounds, aura.

Works of art, really.

For one point - what is it?

For two points - anyone know if it still exists?

I`m pretty sure the flying star still exists. I read something relatively recently, and it was either up for auction in the US or the factory collection own it. Can`t say I know much about its background - presumably a show special?

There's something about the back end of the flying star thet brings the Khamsin to mind. Who styled it?

I finfd that Bertone did some cracking work for Lamborghini, but the cars they've done for Ferrari don't really work. The best Farraris are the Pininfarina models...

Okay Doky then chaps, this seems to have developed into the most enjoyable thread since ‘wafty old barges’ bereft of Chavs, Blair, supermarket car parks fracas and carbon fibre cup holders on the Porsche forum, the faith is feeling much restored.

So then lets move the old Ante on a bit shall we, we all seem to love Italian motors without resorting to the mainstream and preferably from the 60’s ort 70’s and can be bought for a well stocked book of green shield stamps and with a bit of good ol’ yankee power thrown in.

Bet you’d forgotten about this one, the Intermechannica Italia!!!

PS If you feel the need to buy one ww.ghibligarage.com

Although I`ve heard about them, I have never seen an Intermeccanica Italia. Are they related in any way to the special bodied TR`s?

I also think that, bar a bit of a grifo mention, we`ve been ignoring Iso. Although I could never get my head round the Lele (!) I`ve always thought that the Rivolta was a genuiinly pleasant and undervalued motor.

You guys are good at this!

The Espada was a cross between the Marzal (that freaked out Ferruccio) and the Pirana. I've got models of the Marzal and Pirana ...and that '88 Supercar Classics mag! Back then they wanted £25K for a clean 36K mile Espada.

There was a real ugly mutt car between the Marzal/Pirana and the Espada that retained the Marzal's gullwing doors, metal skinned below the waistline, then had a hideous 'Mini Marcos'/home-made camper van-stylee rear 3/4 window.

How about this then? Who can name this Espada-based creation?

GRRR beat me to it!

Ah yes, ISO! There was a Lele creeping around the dealers for a while earlier in the year for 7-8K as I recall, no real beauty but has the ingredients in the right places

not half as nice as

Again one of the classic boys has had for sale in the late 20’s for months, damn quick bit of kit.

Super Car classics, kept myself and Clpahm993 (fellow PH and fan of all such things) content through double maths on many occasions

I've seen pictures of that four-door Espada - it's not too bad from the side actually but looks (IMO) awful from the rear 3/4. Didn't know it had a name though.

Well chaps, this is an edifying and inspiring thread. Try and keep it going until I return from my hols in a couple of weeks.
