Interesting comments rat rod .. and agree the daytona does look undervalued compared to its predecessors .. still a lot of money tho!

Justin Banks buys most of his stock from auctions, not saying that the Daytona did but may be able to check it

though previous results , probably would be a top end auction.

Think he may want out as the price has been coming down slowly over the months.

You may pick yourself up a bargain . Certainly the cheapest one at the moment but as you say still a lump of money

He could buy four cars or more for stock for that kind of money.

That car was entered into the Historics auction in December. It failed to sell, with an estimate of £390-450k.
I can't see it listed in any previous auctions going back a few years.

Maybe Justin bought the car after the auction ,direct from the owner cutting Historics out, goes on all the time ,shouldn't

but it does ,Sometimes the commission from both the buyer and seller is enough to get in the way of a deal,

without it a deal can be struck. not cricket but hay ! ho!

Robert, does this post help at at all? At least with the date, if it is the same car?

Thanks SS. It’s confusing. Martin Ingham had the RHD skirted QV in blue with blue with Anniversary wheels on, which seems to be the car being discussed. The car I seek is a blue/mag RHD Anniversary. I have contacted his son via one of the pointers above and hope to speak to the man himself!

Robert,

I have misled you, I do apologise.

The car I was referring to was indeed the "skirted" QV car.

Ah ok so where yellowyette says it is an Anniversary is his first post ("Martin Ingham has a good looking Anniversary up at £45995, with 22000 miles and an unusual colour combo (interior is particularly eye-catching)" it is actually the skirted QV.

The only blue Anni I remember seeing was G997VJD but that was a white interior if I recall.

£46K !!! Gee, if only we knew then what we do now!

I brought my black 5000s in 1999 for 30K, sold it for 43K in 2003. I should have kept that car !!!! Doh!

Guess I brought near the bottom. Crazy how nobody wanted these cars. I remember missing out on a Fezza 250 SWB for 500K. Not that I had 500K but look at them now!

Sold my QV in 2000 for £37,500 IIRC.

Needed the money to buy a building to allow my business to merge with another and get us all under one roof. That merger proved to be a good move. Looking at prices today and taking into account the rental income that has gone into the pension fund that owns the building selling the car was the right thing to do.

I count myself blessed to have owned such an iconic car. Would I buy another. Unlikely.

There's a photo of the black 5000 S on page 37 on the "My old Lambo photo's from the 90's" thread

when Jim owned the car, Paid £38K in 2007 for the ex Tim Dutton 400 S on it's third colour .

Anyone know this car? The colour is fantastic.

For most, the jury will be out on the interior. Wheel aside I love it.

Just noticed a Koenig 512BBi in one of the photos.

Edit: just noticed this was discussed a couple of pages ago. It’ll be interesting to see what it fetches.

Edited by Chebble on Sunday 11th April 15:03
That is hideous
Apologies for diverting the thread again but I reckon that’s not a Koenig despite what the ad says. To me it looks like the custom Emblem kit - the naca ducts rather than strakes are a clear difference. See https://www.dmark.co.uk/galleries/emblem-sports-ca... for more info.

Edit: bks. I messed up my quoting. I meant the BB on CollectingCars

They did. But they also made their own and that looks like one rather than a Koenig. The original advert (https://www.classicdriver.com/en/car/ferrari/512/1987/522970) makes reference to this too.

Ok, so hit a bit of a snag with the installation of my refurbished Alpine 7273 unit. I need a cage (mounting bracket) to fit the head unit into the car. Of course mine came without and this item appears to be a bit of a unicorn part. I'm chasing up multiple avenues but thought I'd throw it out there. If anyone has any leads?

Pictures showing the correct item

Cheers
Rob

This is the first countach I ever saw in the flesh, I think I was 11. Photos taken with my crappy 110mm camera at a port in Belgium. The owner had collected his new car at the factory and was bringing it back to the UK.

Wonder what registration it ended up with with.
