I can't see past an early LP400s with those Bravo wheels.

I'd probably agree...the Periscopo is the original and the most "clean", but for me a Countach has bulges!
I'd say it's the same with most people who had the posters on the wall, so will be interesting to see what happens over time.

They seem significantly out of line currently with Miuras to me.
So either Miuras are too high, or Countaches are too low.........
Simon Kidston's opinion is the latter, and that should be a good guide...not that I'm planning to sell, but it can't do any harm!

I would agree .. this was the poster I had. Therefore I like the bulges!

quote=Jonny TVR]In percentage terms wasn't that always the case with Muira/ Countachs? Countach around 25/ 30% of the Muira value?

The dream is a downdraft QV for me.
[/quote]

I just think that if you look at recent prices of Miuras at auction the difference in £s is too large.
Both iconic cars. Both look fabulous.
Countach more reliable and a better drive.
People who had Countach posters on their walls are at the right toy buying age now!?

Approx nos:
Miura - 400/275, S/338, SV/150
Countach - 400/157, 400S/237, 5000S/321, QV/610, anni/657
so there is a bigger supply of Countaches.

Two Countachs, that's just greedy! biggrin
Both in unusual and great colours too.

How do the driving experiences differ between the 5000 S and the QV?

In this case an unfair comparison, a stock 5l against a blueprinted QV of Patrick Mimran.
The Mimran QV had no problem to follow the Gallardos, the 5l had no chance.
The additional torque of the QV makes it so great to drive - powerwise it's the best version (have driven also a number of 25th).

Ah yes, I've read about the Mimran car, or maybe seen a video featuring Valentino Balboni..?

So is it really just the engines that define the differences in the two cars, or are there also variations in the chassis/feel of the cars to drive?

I've never driven a Countach but I have passengered in an LP400 Periscopo and an Anniversary, and they felt like very different cars even from the passenger seat.

Yes, Joe Sackey made a Video of Vale's Test Drive after the restoration, I think I have driven or passengered all Countach variants, the 25th ist the best from technologically stand point and the suspension setting is a bit more aggresive as the QV, but I did the same (toe in at the rear).

As all are 30+ year old cars over 20 decades its a bit unfair to compare early vs. younger cars, each has its charme, my personal vote will always be on the unmolested QV - best engine in the pure S-guise.

What we can say in general from the source idea to create a racecar like street car to the 25th the purity got lost in favor of more usability.

We did a 2 weeks trip through italy covering 2000miles, the QV started every morning like a Fiat and off we went.

Yes, to me, as a passenger, the LP 400 felt a bit more agile and had a more revvy engine (although it might have been driven by a slightly more enthusiastic owner) and the Anniversary felt a little bit softer to ride in, but had a bit more of a 'planted' feel and was, of course, faster with the extra power and torque.

Both were epic and I have great memories from both of those experiences. smile

Hello Countach faithful. Ohh, been a few years since I’ve posted here. But have found my way back here after my exodus. Guess that’s lockdown for you!

Been great to go back over the posts and see a few familiar usernames too.

For those that know of me, my QV is called Daisy and we try and spend time out on the road as often as possible. Which last year was twice. Doh. Hopefully more miles this year, once the salt is no longer upon the roads.

Until then, some pictures.

Keep well and safe

Cheers
Rob

I've been following Daisy's adventures on Instagram, didn't realise she only went out twice last year, what a shame.
I hope she has a busier year when things settle down and the weather improves. cool
