Yes, I do have a register. I have spent over 35 years tracking down the identity and a photo of every single RHD Countach in the world. There are 238, of which I have a confirmed photo and identity of 224 - 14 to go !!
That must be a daunting task with many cars changing registration numbers and colours, not to mention changing countries. Are there any UK cars that you still haven't managed to track down yet?

When I visited Portman and the pink Countach was in the showroom they told me that the original buyer ordered the car to match his wife's pink leather dress with blue leather belt, but there have been several variations of this over the years...
Geoff said on Twitter a while back that it was matched against her pink belt. The blue was her jeans.
As mentioned Geoff added the grey later with a spray can. Rock and roll!
I guess that clears that up then, good old Chinese whispers, ha!

I can't imagine anyone getting busy with an aerosol can of paint on a Countach, he sounds like quite a character! biggrin
Straight from the horses mouth cool

Nah, we remember them because they were pant wettingly, in your face special! LOL! Yes they were rarer but it was more than that, I don’t recall Ferrari in that era say testrossas in the same way and you hardly saw those. EHF1 was about the only one I can remember........

You are so right , You think i would have grown out of it at my age, but still feel the excitement when i get anywhere near a classic Italian

car, Trouble is i've got very eclectic taste so love classic yanks, Hot Rods, vintage stuff and racing cars so always need toooooooooo many

cars , Wish i could be happy with one ,would make life a lot easier.

Is or was EHF 1 on Maranello's Demo cars. Looks familiar.

Robert i can't believe the amount of info all you guys have retained after all these passing years,

Wonder if the current owners of the new Lamborghini's today will be able to recollect most of the cars after nearly 40 years.

I doubt it, the passion and mystique isn't quite the same as the early cars...
That's a little unfair though since there is a completely different order of production numbers for Lamborghinis today compared with 40 years ago. You would almost never see a Countach or Miura on the road 40 years ago because there were only a handful in the country - in fact, I'm not sure I've ever seen a Miura except at or en-route to a car event. With a Gallardo or a Huracan, there's a fair chance of seeing one every day if you're in the right part of the world.
I remember, as a kid of about 6 or 7 years old seeing my first Lamborghini, a bright green Espada, in Bristol.
I don't even know how I knew what it was as it drove by but I did.

The first time I saw a Countach, a red LP400, in my original town Bradford on Avon in Wiltshire a couple of years later, maybe around 1983, is a great memory for me.
And a black Countach with arches and rear wing in Bath a couple of years later.

It was somewhat unusual to see a Ferrari back then, but a Lamborghini, that was really something quite incredible and, for me, very thrilling.

I can't remember if I've posted this car before but I've never seen another in this colur.
Light metallic green with dark red interior.
September 1988.

Another unique colour, never seen the car anywhere, what i can see i quite like , looks similar to the DB 4/5 and Interceptor sage green.

Wonder if it's still in that colour,

Referring to the same two photo's of the white Countach in Portman's showroom window ,probably is the same car but maybe

not on the same day unless anyone with good eye site can catch the reflection of the the Escort convertible which you can just

see the rear of on the opposite side of the road. Sorry maybe getting to anoraky now.
Yes, this car is still the same colour. Countach QV "grigio speciale with bordeaux speciale interior" - all special order. Still registered B1USH with long term owner.

Go anoraky - that's part of what this thread is about!
Wow, That's good news ,unusual to be with the same owner after all these years, would love to see that car.

Love one off colours,
obviously more grey than green, maybe a pewter sort of colour. Wonderful..

I'll put my anorak back on thanks.

Wow, that is seriously impressive!

How do you categorise the Rod Stewart LP400 which was converted from right hand to left hand drive when he moved to California?

I believe this car was also upgraded to LP400 S (ish) body spec with arches and wide wheels and made into a targa top (!), and then subsequently converted back to LP400 Periscopio body..?

Yes, Maranello Sales took a navy blue RHD flatnose 911 in p/x with reg EHF1 in 1990, then have used it on their demo cars ever since... and no, Enzo Ferrari’s middle initial wasn’t “H”!

I compare seeing your first lambo like remembering your first girl friend but probably more vivid,

A brand new silver series one Espada was mine, Thought it had just landed. A local guy who owned it ,previously had a silver DB 5,

then a Iso Grifo also in silver with the 327 Chevy V8 followed by a Try powered 427 Grifo with the big power bulge and retractable

head lights in metallic bright blue, After the silver Espada he then went on to a gold one, think it was a series two or three with the

bolt on wheels. See i can remember all that and that was back in the 70's,

His son's had the same interest having had three Countachs and one Jalpa all bought from Portman, one of the Countachs being ex Jimmy

Saviles car not that you would mention it now. Probably not a good selling point.

Relatively few - a blu Acapulco Anniversary supplied new to Ingham (maybe dealer Martin Ingham alt he says not) then to Nair and a red Anniversary new to Julian Smith in Jersey and registered J6268.

I have decided to track down the cars that left the factory in RHD, which includes 1120262, Rod’s car which some erk recently restored to “original” LP400 spec, but forgetting to put the steering wheel on the right.

In fact, very few have changed from LHD to RHD or vice versa.

Well, I have a register of all 438 UK RHD Testarossas and the 100-or-so RHD supplied via the UK to other markets. They are MUCH harder to track, but still there are so many with famous owners, stories and all are simply magical individual cars ...

Ah, I see.
And that doesn't surprise me, it must be quite a complicated and very expensive conversion, to say the least!

I admire your dedication of tracking Countach history, it interests me very much as well.

What with the government's 5% deposit mortgage thing they've proposed, maybe I could get a mortgage on a Countach... scratchchin

Go on do it Martin, the passion hasn't gone away after all these years it's never going to. ,there's no hope for you,

You are a lost cause and there's only one answer.

What's that saying, You regret what you didn't do more than what you did , I'm a living example.

Bang on Robert, He had two red 5000S ' s one being Saviles, a red Jalpa in between the two Countache's

Didn't keep that long as he didn't like it after the Countach,

Then a gunmetal grey anniversary . His bother Jeremy had a black anniversary for a short while selling it in favour of a Corniche

convertible as he had a young family.

But you could have told me all that.

Met Nick at Portman one day ,both lucky for him and me.

He was just about to hire a car to get home after dropping his 5000 S to have a sports exhaust fitted and i had just bought a Ferrari

from Mike Perry that he had taken in p/ex against a Lamboghini.

Worked out well ,I didn't have to go back for the Ferrari and Nick didn't need a hire car.

Ah ha mention of an accident might explain somethings. The guy who bought it and had the colour change found kilos of filler all over the car, even on the roof, when stripping it back.

Where did you see it advertised?

Cheers
SS
Can't remember where i saw the advert, had a quick look on the internet but nothing, I think it could be one of my many many

mags , When i get five minutes i'll have a look but i have got alot of them, It was fairly recently so that might help.

Do remember it was trade and they had other high end classics for sale, price was poa, I think they are in the Sussex or

or Surrey area,

It doesn't surprise me that there's lots of filler judging by the photo's i saw, it looked like it needed a new body let alone panels.

I was told that a couple was on there way back from a Lambo club barbecue and the owner had a few drinks and let his

girlfriend drive, Think it was a serious accident ,one of them is now in a wheel chair and the other may have died but i can't

remember if that's right or not, Hope i got the story wrong ,

Will see if i can find the ad and get back to you
