I like with both the wing and wingless. But mine had the wing from new and the car is from the decade of excess. So, it's staying on.

Always nice to have a clean Countach turn up on your drive! Especially if it's yours :-)

Mr. Footsoldier, did you get new P7's on yours? I think you managed to get the smaller 205 for the fronts right? How do you find the new tyres?

Rat Rod - I am intrigued as to who you are. Do you own ROD65 by any chance?

Harry Metcalf runs one of each.

Harry actually has a boot lid with a wing and another without. There is indeed also another Countach in his 'shed', but that's a friend's car, AAIU.

OK, back on track ;-) , madam returned form Mike P this week. Just in time for that hot and warm and dry and sunny Easter weekend . . . errr . . .

Anyway, great to have her back. Not much needed doing. Fluids changed: oil, clutch, brakes. New filter, air con charged and an inspection. Two new Spal cooling fans fitted. Not that the old ones were faulty. But the new ones draw less current and have a higher airflow. Also, they are not 34 years old. I had an electric fan go on my 355 and that was painful to get the car home from France in the middle of a heatwave.

Maybe get some use out the ol girl this year . . . ?

That was speedy, it must have "winged" its way back.
(Sorry...)

I read or saw on a video that he had just the one boot lid and would cover the holes with red electrical tape - he said the colour matched quite well.
Maybe that was a temporary solution.

And yep, D111HUV is owned by a friend and has apparently been at Iain Tyrrell's having some work done. It seems Iain is now becoming a go-to for Lambo owners across the world if his videos on YT have been anything to go by. On each new video he seems to have more and more Lambos of all types in the background.

I thought I'd read somewhere that he has two bootlids, one with and one without, but there's a shot in one of James May's TV shows where he borrows Harry's car and they spend a few minutes bolting the wing on before he drives it.

My handle is nothing to do with my name and no i don't own reg no ROD65 , Having been lucky to have owned Ferrari's

and Lamborghini's and various other Italian machines since my mid to late 20's now 69 years young things seem to got a little

out of hand and now having accumulated a eclectic mix of cars as well as Italian now include some oily vintage stuff,

British classics and i am a sucker for anything with a roll bar and little else, Had numerous 911's so no need for one of them

when mid-life crisis came round instead gained a passion for the older Americana,40'/ 50's 60's chrome and fin's land yachts and

muscle cars from the 60's/70's , the attraction is there simple tractor mechanics , a refreshing change from the sometimes over complex

Italian mechanics ,a spanner and screw driver in each pocket should get you home, I also own 2 1932 Ford Model B Hot Rods, a roadster

and a 3 window Coupe but because of there scruffy appearance they are referred to as Rat Rods hence my PH nick name,

Being OCD it makes a nice change not feeling the need for endless polishing after ever trip out as there isn't a lot of paint left , If you are all

still with me, sorry for the long winded answer to your question Robert . ,

Yes, I got them as soon as available. And it was the first time I had 205 fronts which are a definite improvement - sharper front end, and what the early cars are supposed to have.
Highly recommend - more compliant, better ride and handling, and the correct tread pattern for a Countach!

Jesus, what a beauty! She looks fantastic!

Thanks for the feedback on the P7's. I did reach out to Longstone tyres to ask about the date stamps on their stock.

225/50x15 Pirelli Cinturato P7 = 3520 (35th week 2020)
345/35x15 Pirelli Cinturato P7 = 3820 (38th week 2020)

Pretty young! I hate buying new shoes that have sat on the shelf for a period. When I brought the asimmetrico tyres in 2013 to replace the 20 year old hoops on my new purchase (just brought the Countach) they were already 3 years old. But what choice did I have, none. Now that Pirelli are remaking the P7's, it seems a great time to buy a set.

Interesting, I don't think I've ever heard him mention that. Does he keep the second one somewhere other than with the rest of the collection in his barn? (Abroad or on display, for example).

I seem to remember him saying in a video that the other car used to be his as well, but now belongs to a friend and he's just letting it still live in his shed. Something along those lines. Given the other car seems very similar to his I can't imagine much point in owning the two of them himself.

He's definitely mentioned shenanigans getting the wing on and off of his red Countach E57 JAR, and we have seen the other Countach that lives in his barn, which he stores there for a friend. I remember he also once did a video with an, LP 400, but he didn't own that one. Perhaps someone here can confirm, I assume several posting here know Harry personally.

He’s told me the story of how he ended up with two. It wasn’t intentional.
We didn’t discuss their location.

I have just ordered a new set of P-Zero tyres for my Anniversary (The Anniversary used these as original instead of P7 Cinturato). I checked Longstone and they were very expensive. Most places listed them as unavailable and my tyre man was also unable to get any. I found them on Amazon of all places, with the rears just £646 each delivered. They are showing as dispatched and are due to arrive next Wednesday, so we'll see.

I also have to replace the drive shaft CV boots which I suspect won't be much fun to do, has anyone on here done this job before and know what's involved?

thanks...
and yes, I think it's best to get them while available, as you never know when they go off the radar again!
I have the assimetricos in the garage as spares now.
