I’m so glad that there was a display of Countachs, and well done to everyone for arranging it. However, 7 cars was a very lightweight number. I don’t think it was organised properly and the weather certainly didn’t help.

I suppose it also makes you wonder how many owners are actual countach enthusiasts. I guess they must be but not enough to make the trip.

Fully agree, I think nowadays the majority of CT's are hidden away in "Collections" in expectation of further value increase whereas around millenium they were driven extensively .

Can you remember when you have seen last time a Miura on the road?

These cars got such a high value that owner rather restore them like mad than drive them.

I have never seen a Muira on the road .. once at the goodwood festival of speed on display many years ago.

Countach's were a fairly regular sight around Central London in the 1980s/90s and to this day nothing else has the same road presence for me.

Or is it that a windy Silverstone is not the most glamorous of venues to attract owners. I wonder if an invite to Ville d'est or similar would garner such a thin turnout?

Er, or, like me you had a bunch of family around that day on a long-standing engagement………
Will be at Hampton Court.

If you have a number of cars, which more and more people seem to have, you can only drive one at a time. Lovely interaction between my son and a chap at Salon Prive a couple of years back.
The chap asked, “How many Lambos have you got?”
“5, how many have you got?”
“27.”

And you can only go to so many events and there are more and more.

The people I know who have Countaches are mostly in love with them and certainly ain’t investors.
Had one around the previous weekend. He informed me that I still had the original stickers on my front fog lamps which he’d never seen.
I stood with Harry Metcalf discussing the exact paint line in front of the rear air intakes. He was so fascinated by which was “right” that he rang his Italian restorer there and then to check.
A get together a few years back at Bicester had a chap drive down for lunch from Scotland.
I remember taking my car in to Del Hopkins many years ago. It was covered in mud, which looked fantastic against the white. “Bloody hell, have you been rallying?”, he asked.

I remember seeing more Countaches than that at a windy Castle Combe back in the late 80s, several of them being ragged around the track all day.

Maybe back in the day they where more obtainable with the likes of even someone like me could afford one,

paid £38K but remember them even less at £25/£30K before that , Now that they have become to precious for owners bar a few to

risk them on the track especially in the wet. Without trying to sound like a old fart nothing will come close to the Carrera Sport

days at Goodwood and Castle Coombe being almost unsilenced , The sound and sight of five Countachs on sports exhausts thundering

down Goodwoods pit straight yikes would be hard to beat, wish i could have bottled it i would have made a fortune. scratchchin

When I had my Countach over 20 years ago I used to support a charity called Sporting Bears. It involved giving passenger rides to kids at the NEC Motorshow. The better the car the more they paid. I got involved due to a guy called Neil Lefley who used to come along in his Muira. It was no garage queen. We must have done 5 years on the bounce. According to this Neil sold the car in 2000, the same year I sold mine.

I met Neil at several events around the UK when he owned the Miura. Extremely nice guy and always willing to have a chat about the Miura. I remember him saying he was thinking of selling it one time. He had other cars including (from memory) a Roush GT40 and Ferrari 365 GTC4.

Hello,
Yes, I'm still alive !
I still have the GTC/4 and the Safir GT 40 Mk V 1094, although that is with Hall & Hall for sale.
I enjoyed the Miura for about 20 years, and did lots of Sporting Bears activities, and Norwich Union runs in it.
I gave Henry Weitzman a ride in it one NEC show and he came back the next year with the ex-Twiggy Miura, which Jane still has.
I drove his car round Birmingham to help diagnose a clutch problem, the only other Miura I have driven.
I also restored the TVR Trident convertible, and swore that would be the last car I rebuilt.
However, Ric Lee came up with his part rebuilt Maserati Khamsin which I couldn't resist, and have spent the last two years or so finishing it off.
When I first bought the Miura it was a choice between the P400 and the pale blue SV, which I could have had for about £18,000.
I went for the one with eyelashes, and didn't regret it, the blue SV was quite a lot of trouble for it's later owners.
Mine was about the only Miura that moved for several years, in the '80's.

Well hello Neil. You probably won't remember me but it was great to see your Miura several times and have chats with you at the various events.

As you probably know, the pale blue SV was once owned by Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath. He also had quite a bit of trouble with it when he owned it.

I hope you are well.

There's someone who still turns up in a Countach occasionally and gives passenger rides for the Sporting Bears. It's about the only car I want to passenger in.

Lamborghini released a teaser video a few hours ago but being a teaser, there is extremely little of the car shown.
