From very distant memories, and no photos to support me, the red Countach in the showroom when I went had beige leather.
I sat in the car and noticed the extended dash on doing so.
I also “met” BR33, which was in the showroom of Nidd Vale Motors in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire. The garage later moved to Harrogate and were a Vauxhall Opel dealer,
The owner at the time was a chap called Richard Jackson who was (and still is) a successful amateur rally driver and a really pleasant man.
Why BR33 was “up North” in Knaresborough, who knows. The owner Barry Robinson I think was the owner of a demolition company.
I can’t remember a price-tag on the car, but it was pride of place in the showroom, and not there very long.
It was a real “diary-entry” to see a Countach or any exotica really, and was genuinely exciting.
These days, owing to supply and demand etc, not so much. Familiarity breeds contempt and all that....

So much in fact I acquired one.
Enclosed is the car, I’m the 3rd keeper 6400 kms on the clock supplied by Portman in April 1990 and one of the last 9 countach’s ever built. Factory non wing car, never painted repaired or messed with, wheels or interior never refurbished and still has everything from factory including tools, wallet etc. was owned by the previous owner for 27 years who unfortunately passed away last year. Prior to that bought new by Nigel Albon father of F1 rookie Alex.
So much in fact I acquired one.

Nigel Albon was a dealer as I understand it, so he bought the car to trade to the first owner, so you nearly have a one owner car! One of the last 9 Countachs made? Careful. Where do you have this from? Your car left the factory on 12th April 1990 along with four other RHD cars - two black, a purple and another red.

I got the information from del Hopkins who worked for Portman. Car only arrived today so still finding out details in full. The car is on a few shots and also in the background wheen they drive out the next morning. It was a house not a hotel we did the filming in.

As always its a question of condition and provenance .
Absolute price figures are anyone's guess , as its dependent on the prevailing market conditions -- supply vs demand at that moment / general economic conditions etc .
I'm not well placed to talk about prices as its just over 18 years since I bought my 88 1/2 QV .
But what I can talk about with a pinch more factual backing is the factors underpinning the price of a Countach ( and the following applies to pretty much any classic car ) :
- condition --get a specialist like Mike Pullen or Roberto Grimaldi to examine it
- originality -- why was it repainted
- who has done the servicing
- how many clutches has it been through : they are pretty good on clutches if treated sympathetically , so a load of past clutches tells you something about its previous owners
- how many previous owners
- colour / interior condition etc
-what sort of QV --dolphin belly or Pagani strakes as per 88 1/2
-LHD or RHD
- carb or injected
- manual or electronic heating and ventilation control .
all these factors should inform you of the relative price of the car that you are considering vs the current market ( See PH classifieds and other specialist online and print classifieds )
I'm just under half way through writing a book on the Countach -- the research , and meeting/ talking to the various people involved in its development has been fascinating --- even more so than with the Murcielago book ( Google : 9781845849221 )
The Countach is a very special car --- its so much more than a car , so much more than a supercar

All those suggested questions are fine but there just aren’t that many RHD non-anniversary cars.They are old ladies now, so they’ll all have histories. Key is nothing really nasty. Get it inspected. As well as the names already mentioned Colin Clarke is sensible and Dave Jenkins at Lamborghini Pangbourne has worked on my car and likes the older stuff. After that it’s a matter of luck.
Out of Jalpa, Diablo, Murcielago and Countach, the Countach has been best behaved. It’s the purest drive. It also makes people smile the most.

Get as much info as you can on the car, work out where the gaps are and think about if you owned the car how easy you would find it to sell “the story” including the gaps.

There are quite a few cars on the market at the moment if you look hard. Worth seeing if you can get serious about two cars then you have a Plan B.
