Owned countach 5000s for 5 years +testarossa series 1 for 11 years you can not compare these cars really different in all ways the lambo is just a odd day blast drive but the ferrari is a alround every day good car.
Like you Jim although not a Testarossa i ran my modified 308 GTB along side my Countach and although being a compartion car itfelt like a pussy cat after a work out with the Lamborghini depending where i was driving .
But would choose the Countach every time for the sheer excitement and making every drive a event.
If you had a choice between a 5000S and a QV 88.5 with side skirts which would you go for? I couldn't live with the anniversary but could live with the side skirts if I get the dd engine. The 5000S does look better. They seem to be similarly valued? Also which is the better investment.

Beautiful late red countach (no rear spoiler) in the Lambo South Ken dealership right now...in the middle of less interesting new ones
Seen it .. 88.5 which is partly due to my question. They seem to be around the 280 to 300 ish level whereas a qv without skirts is 100k more. So you seem to be paying a 100k penalty for the side skirts. I might be wrong in all this but this seems to be the caseJonny TVR said:

5000S or QV less skirts would be my choice, Just got to find someone who actually wants to sell their car and not just dangling a carrot at a high price on he off chance you may have more money than sense
In theory the skirted 88 car should be worth more than a none skirted QV as i believe there was only 14 RHD 88 1/2 Countachs made
before the anniversary came out. It's obvious that buyers prefer the pure lines of pre skirted cars QV's,
Wouldn't put me off myself but i do prefer without ,but not in yellow again please.
QV is slightly quicker than the 5000 S but not much in it really and that's not why you would buy one anyway ,
For that you would buy a Performante which you've done already.
Should be able to find a QV at a similar price to a 88 1/2 car ,most seem to be on SOR at dealers, just need to get hold of the
owners direct , they are rare but not that rare and don't seem to be selling overnight and most seem to have been hanging around a while.
I would put a wanted ad in and see if you can prise one out of a private seller who may be nervous about having time wasters
around if they advertise the car themselves.
You will be running out of room before money at this rate.

I clearly disagree, that's really a huge difference, I drove all Counatch versions, 5l vs QV is like Pony against Horse.Gassing Station | Lamborghini Classics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
