This was David Bacon's car. Photo taken outside his house.

That's Mike Perry in the yellow jacket

That brings me to the end of the LOC snaps.

Just recognized that some of the pictures are mirrored, detected the fact with the orange Urraco which is 15040.
The red Countach is left from the Urraco.

Yes apologies for that. Had the negative the wrong way round in the scanner. Had so many to do that I couldn't be bothered to re-do it!

No need to apologize, it was just an observation since I'm working on the Urracos list.
We are all happy that you provided these great pictures from the past.
With Photshop or similar tools you can easily revert the mirroring.

I remember the magazine article about this car which I thought was quite amusing, I got the feeling he wasn't overly impressed with it and thought the colour was a bit odd, but in the 1980s you were lucky to see any type of supercar on the road so I was more than happy to read about a Countach and drool over the pics.
I remember the article well; it was in a kit car magazine & the car got a good slagging from the journo. There was a claim in the article that the rear wing had generated so much downforce that it had buckled the sill just ahead of the rear wheel arch, which I'd never heard of before, (bear in-mind at the time I was an adolescent who knew "everything" about the Countach!), nor since.

Clearly the article was geared towards dissuading anyone from aspiring to own one & to buy a nasty plastic copy, instead, (apologies to those easily offended), & having seen the trailer photo I wonder if they didn't damage the car whilst loading it...

It wasn't 'til years later that I discovered it was Tim Duttons' car, so the kit car link made sense; I daresay there was an article or ad or two about his own companys' offerings.

Testing your memory now but does anyone remember which kit car magazine and approximately what date or nearest year
Tim's Dutton's Countach was featured as there may be the off chance of buying one on E Bay or similar . Thanks in advance.

The magazine is called Alternative Cars and they really didn’t like the car.
The July 1983 had the main article entitled Dreamcar or Disaster. Then the August 1983 edition carried the more damning article by Tim Dutton entitled ‘Shattered Dreams’.

I have both. At some point if I can I will scan/snap and post on here.

Been trying to find out how many R.H.D MK3 Countachs were made for some time ,didn't realise it was only seven ,asked Lamborghini and they either didn't know or wouldn't tell me and even asked on here without success. so was surprised to read it on this article.

Also i was unaware that Ted Toleman purchased 1121320 new as i always thought that Tim Dutton was the first owner ,not that anyone
had told me that it's just his name always came up so i assumed he was the first owner.

Thanks again.

I tried to find a contact for Ted Toleman in case he could recall the cars early history, even though he didn't own it long and it was decades ago. A hard man to track down!

Probably on some Caribbean island beach with Lord Lucan ,

Should think these sort of people can make themselfs very invisible when they want.

I can tell you how many RHD Countachs were made of each kind. Note UK RHD is a subset of total RHD. What do you mean by Mk3 Countach? Do you mean LP400S series 3?

Yes, LP 400 S series 3, Footsoldier stated their were 82 LP 400 S series 3 made in total but did not know how many were R.H.D.

Loose_Cannon posted a article were it was stated 83 in total with only 7 being R.H.D, very low number if true.

Would be good if you can enlighten me, Thanks

Hi, there were 19 RHD LP400S, of which only 1 was a series 1, three were series 2 and 15 were series 3. Robert

Thanks for the information Robert, very kind of you .

I thought 7 may be to little but had no way of finding out otherwise

,Should have done my homework before hand not 14 years later.

Interesting list.
Back in the day chassis numbers were not of interest. ( unless a warranty claim was being made.)
The cars were remembered by the name of the customer. i.e. The Joe Little Espada, the Patrick Lichfield Espada , the Peter Hay Miura etc ..

Fortunately The UK records were kept by Del H so they do still exist but if you asked me who owned chassis number xyz 123 I would not have a clue.
If you mentioned a particular owner I could probably recall a memorable journey in that car.
But to shoot myself in the foot.............this was the last Urraco I drove but for the life of me I cannot recall who owned it !

TGJ 287M is 15542, it still wears these plates!

I always thought it was a cutover car between the early and later LP400s. The body was 3/4" taller than earlier ones but it had the earlier chassis frame. Rather strangely it also only had 40DCOEs and most of the comparative models had 45s. It was still a cracking car. Here is is by Mike's at Castle Coombe.
Oh BTW the issue with the wing was that is was bolted to edge of the bootlid which, over time, sagged under the weight. I had a new steel frame and ali skin made when I took it off as the original was beyond repair.

Hello Steve, great to have you on here sharing info about your Countach.
If you haven’t already scrolled through from the start you will see quite a few snaps of it. I loved seeing it each time back in those days at Goodwood or Castle Combe. Always great entertainment seeing you and Mike on track.
Swear I can recall when Mike cut through the chicane to nip in front of you at Goodwood one year.

Please share any more photos you have. Many on here would love to see them.

Thanks
SS
