Hi

Looking for people to share their experiences on their track setup for the Performante.

1. Anyone here using Trofeo Rs ? Finding difficulty sourcing these so wondering if Cup2 would work as well as an alternative.

2. Geo - is factory setup any good? Reading on some other forums that car needs a touch more camber on the front, especially with trofeos. Can anyone recommend someone with experience setting Huracans up.

3. Noise - any mufflers available for this car on tracks below 105db?

Thanks all.

I would say any road car will need more camber to get the most out of track day tyres.

I had some Trofeo Rs fitted to mine for a trackday at Imola. Naturally, it rained! Hard to give you feedback as a result, other than it still felt pretty safe.

The big question is what is the right Trofeo R? If rumours are true, Lambo had a special version for the 'ring time. Whether that is true can only be confirmed if you order from your dealer. The cost...FOUR THOUSAND!

After getting that quote, I shopped around. In the end Wheelpower in Brockley, SE London could get me a set.. can't remember the price but way cheaper; I think about the same I pay for regular Michelins on my RS6.

Going back to Imola, I spoke to a Dutch guy with a 991 RS on a Manthey set up. He said his car was 3 seconds quicker a lap quicker at Spa with it, and given this is a 991 RS developed by can-do-no-wrong Porsche, I would say the Performante has more to offer as well.

First thing for me is ride height; lower CoG is always good and underfloor aero works better the closer a car is to the floor. The GT3s look slammed in comparison; the Performante's low nose meant it has a bit of a 4x4 ride height. I am fitting Novitec springs in the next couple of weeks as a result.

I don't believe there is anything you can do with the exhaust. My solution is to go outside of the UK.

Good luck! Not seen another Performante on track. In fact, not sure I've ever seen a Lambo on track at all. Certainly not see another Performante with Trofeo Rs.

Thanks for the reply! I am somewhat surprised by the little response I have got, considering the Performante is Lambo's track orientated car you would think more people would use them on track. Otherwise, surely better to save the 50k and buy standard Huracan.

Still shopping around on tyres. Trofeo R seem to have more grip than Cup2s but hear wear rate is a lot worse, some have said their fronts are done after 1 track day. Maybe answer is to add 0.5 degree more negative camber on the fronts. I am hoping as more cars get delivered and people start tinkering with them we start to see more setups and experiences.

Let me know how you get on with the Novitec springs. Lowering the centre of gravity will have a profound impact, I have done that to other cars and the aero will work better and car will feel more stable, especially through the corners. I think every car has been specced with lift from what I hear so shouldn't be too much of problem driving it on roads as long as not slammed. BTW, do you know if the standard suspension has any height adjustments?

I would also be keen to know if anyone has any recommendations on somewhere good for a track biased Geo setup for the Performante, especially somewhere near Surrey / Sussex area.

I will be out at Spa with mine in July so trying to find somewhere to do it before then. I will also be changing the current Pirelli's for Michelin Cup 2's

Sorry, not used mine in anger for a bit now. My Novitec springs have arrived but now waiting for some H&Rs to arrive.

Have you been out on track then? I really want to do a dry track day with the Trofeos on and review the tyres afterwards; that would then steer towards what the car needs. I have no idea what adjustment is available on the car. Of course, the setup used for the 'Ring record would be fascinating.

The obvious thing would be to go somewhere like Centre of Gravity who may make an educated guess based on their experience doing lots of track day cars. I imagine at the very least more camber is needed to make the most out of the Trofeos.

May I ask where you are supplying your aftermarket parts from and are you just getting someone local to put them on or do you have a trusted specialist that you use? I have more knowledge on modifying on a Porsche and have more options / specialists near me on Porsches for such things as suspension upgrades, geo setup, aftermarket parts etc to make the car more specific for track work.

No I haven't been on track yet, want to put a few more miles on it first but will be out at Spa in mid July for 2 days with it so want to get things ready by then. I have changed discs, pads and fluid (I know it mat be a bit crazy to be taking off CC discs but there have always been mixed stories about CC's on track and how long they have lasted for people so I have just switched them out for Girodisc's all round and Pagid RS29 pads). I am waiting for my Michelin Cup2 fronts to arrive any day and then a set of Cup2's will be fitted all round.

I am at Silverstone on Tuesday but my plan was to run the Nissan GTR I have to give that a run but it has been a few to have a few bits sorted and waiting for it to come back so cutting it fine, which may mean the Performante may have to stand in for it but I need the bed the brakes in over the weekend and put a few miles on.

I would agree, even just putting some extra camber on to the car should help somewhat even..

Like you, have Porsche experience so this is new territory.

Did you use the Performante at Silverstone?

Finally getting back my car this Monday on the Novitec springs. They are doing geo (Prestige Wheel Centre, who have done a few Huracans) but nothing track orientated.

I think the best thing to do is to use it, take it to a local race team and then get an opinion. The question is then how much adjustabilty is actually there.

Worth noting the spring change is more involved than I thought, They wanted a couple of days to remove the lift kit and put it all back together.

Really interested to hear how you find the brakes; I'm too worried about the carbon discs and it always stopped me pushing too hard in my last 991 GT3.

BTW, anyone on Instagram?

I didn't use the car at Silverstone, still had a few miles to do to finish running in plus I had only just put the steels on the car so had done no miles since plus I still had the Pirelli Corsa's on the car and was waiting for Cup2's to go on. I wanted to run my Nissan GTR that day anyway so wasn't an issue really but I am looking forward to spending two days at Spa with it to really see what it is like around a track.

I have used Parr Porsche previous for my Porsche so approached them to ask if they could look to make some adjustments or do they know of anyone locally they would recommend, so they are going to do a set up for me and the car is going in there this week for that.

Not looking to do anything with the springs as yet but good to know ahead of time that it is not a simple job to do.

With the brakes I am guessing that for the most part there will not be any huge difference. With the Porsche I never had any fade when I switched to steels, they stopped as they should so I would hope for the same. The steel fronts are 20mm bigger than the ceramics and the rears are the same. Running Pagid RS29 pads and changed the fluid to Castrol SRF. Have not changed the fuel lines to braided as I did on the Porsche so that may be something I change at some point.

Pretty much 2 weeks to Spa, can't waitbiggrin

hondansx - How have you found the Novitec springs? Are they stiffer than the standard ones or are they simply shorter and just lower the ride height?

Hi, can't really add much but this is exactly the problem, Lamborghini built a car that will get on very little UK tracks due to the noise limits it needs to be a no noise limit day to have a go.
I have similar problems currently running the 12c on sports exhaust, Brands Indy ok if lucky GP a no go, limits me to Donnington, and that old airfield they call a race track at silverstone :-)

I am currently looking into the various bolt on noise reducers ..

Did anyone opt for the 'Lamborghini Telemetry' option when they spec'd up their Performante?

I am getting it added when the car goes in for its first service next week and just wondering if anyone had it and has used it on track, and is it any good?
