It's the egregious and untramelled gouging that makes it all so unpleasant. There's not even a pretence that you're buying a unique accessory spun out of unicorn hair and fitted to your precise body shape. Nope, it's either some OEM component from Marelli / Bosch / Becker that is bought in bulk for $100, or it is actually Ferrari specific but has no possible justification of R+D amortisation (yes, stamped metal wing shields, I'm looking at you).

I think the stiched Cavalinho are perhaps the biggest rip off.

£760 for 2 minutes in a CNC embroidery machine...they look nice though!

No. Biggest rip off is coloured stitching as seats have to be stitched in any case.

Never seen this thread before, i test drove a 12c spider this morning and was blown away. My 430 spider felt and looked like something from the antiques roadshow in comparison, really sold on how the Mac drove ...however i had/have concerns of the economic sense in making the change given the unknown of the Mclaren brand and where values will end up.

I'm not in love with the 458, so i guess its a case of sitting tight with the 430 a bit longer or being very brave and taking the leap. Sleepless times!

Nice looking thing too!

Nope - I was in Graypaul Nottingham on Saturday and took a photo of the spec list out of surprise - posted it elsewhere on on the forums and was surprised to see it again!

When he wants to sell it back to the dealer in a few months, watch how they get the gloves and the lube out before offering him a bid.. Or, instead, they may turn the lights off, lock the door and hide behind the desk if they see him park up and pretend they are closed.

I hope it is his dream car because he's probably kissed goodbye to £80k already.

On the other hand, he may have precisely what he wants and he is like an excited boy reliving his dreams, in which case I salute him and congratulate him. It is only money and we cannot take it with us. smile

They used to be hand painted, I would assume for that money they still are.

I wouldn't buy a car without them! For re-sale I think you might think spending the extra grand worthwhile.

Absolutely mental that you'd dismiss a car because of a little emblem on the wing. Infact that is almost as mental as paying a grand for them in the first place.

I guess I just don't get it.

I think when it comes to re-sale it will make little difference - you are going to get your trousers pulled down. Shields or no shields.

APOLO 1 you are clearly well informed. If there are unsold 458 spiders in the network are dealers able to offer incentives as they do with the Italia is 30k off ? Do you know the position with 12c spider?
I preferred to buy new but not at. 60k losses in the first year. PM if you prefer
