wrong.....and you are missing the point......12c in drag.......
Which bits are shared with the 12c, other than they both use Teneco suspension and the brakes are made by Brembo?

P1's brakes are Akebonos.

The engine is 90% new, heavily revised gearbox, the suspension is way more complex but supplied by the same company, which makes a lot of sense, the carbon fiber MonoCage is similar to the one found in the 12C but not the same. Everything else is totally bespoke. smile

I think it is fair to say that the only pieces directly interchangeable from 12C to P1 are the bits that don't really matter. McLaren looked at every component on the P1 for performance improvements and weight savings.

Paul B was at Snetterton today yesterday with his P1. An article due out by EVO (already available through their iPad App) includes commentary from him on the car and he couldn't be more enthusiastic about it. Photo by simon_179 on IG:

Why not enlighten us all then?

Everything I've read is that the P1 is significantly different to the 12C. Specifically in terms of carbon tub and engine (the two most common points of "its the same as the 12C" from those who like to be negative).

obvious troll is obvious.

Been reading this thread with interest and sorry APOLO1, but you are just coming across as the totally arrogant and extremely self important right now. You appear to be looking down on every other poster on here as if they are beneath you. Makes you look like a total tool. I'm not saying you are in real life at all, but your tone is really giving that impression to the casual reader.

Your constantly telling everyone else they are wrong and you are right, but offer zero backup to your postings. Just the same old thing, a few random words telling someone how wrong they are (not even complete sentences) then nothing... no back up... no justification.

ps. I recently spent a day at the McLaren Technology center (where the P1 is currently being put together... production will move to the factory shortly I beleive) and was lucky enough to watch a P1 being built and more importantly got to spend some time with those building and developing it (I looks insane in McLaren Orange :cloud9 ) and I can say with utter certainty that you are the one who appears very miss-informed on loads of 'facts' about this car.
It is NOT a 12c in drag as you so shortly describe it.

I take it the services were closed or does buy dint of the purchase of key ring mean you get a tour...

See below comments section from car mag....

1) The P1 is in fact by Mr Sherif's own admission last year ( in several interviews ) .... an MP4-12C with different body work ... a few tech weenie gadgets to impress the terminally deluded .... and a ' Tuned ' MP4-12C engine ... period .... end of discussion

It has a nice ring to it...terminally deluded, don't you think.....

Your next point please

Your point is incomplete without citing a source.

If Mr Sheriff truly said such things "in several interviews" then it should not be impossible for you to provide actual reference to at least one where we could all have the benefit of reading what was actually said?

Irrespective of what the true percentages are and relative performances it is clear to most casual observers (and every 12C owner I know) that the P1 is a significant derivative of the 12C, whereas the 918 is clearly utterly unrelated to any other Porsche model (as was the CGT or F1 being their respective relative predecessors).

Given that the P1 looks increasingly likely to comfortably best the 918 in outright performance ( and probably the Laugh-errari to boot ) i think APOLO is going to end up looking like a bit of a tool. Which seems appropriate based on his attitude lately.

Maybe he is a lovely guy and generous to all, but we can only judge on the internet by how people conduct themselves. Some grace, eloquence and respect for others is always a good thing. Sadly lacking in his case.

It is a shame, because he appears to have an excellent car collection and some useful experience to share. The only problem is that I don't have any respect for his opinion anymore.

Anyway, he clearly doesn't care so crack on everyone. As you were. smile

Nope. Everything is different. The P1 line is currently next to the paint shop and next to the early stages of the 12c line. That is about all they have in common....

As I've said before, in every thread I've seen him contribute to, he says so much without saying anything at all.

Same old crass opinions stated as cast iron indisputable facts.

Its getting boring mate.

Change the record.

You have never driven 918 and I would bet you never will. There is less than 100kg in weight diff between the 2 cars, the 918 has way more Torque than the P1,the 918 will out run the P1 and the other one that keeps crashing.....
