As the title suggests, thought it would be good to start a new P1 thread. We'll be discussing everything P1 related (news, rumours...) here. smile

I'll start with a post that McLaren London shared on their Facebook page today. Quite teasing, have to say! wink
"Interesting week ahead - lots to tell you!!"

And at 152mph!!! That's about 6mph faster than the Veyron Super Sport and 3mph faster than the Agera R which is absolutely bonkers!!

Anyone know how these compare to an Enzo or a Buggatti? Just interested in how things are moving on.

1/4 mile is faster than a Veyron SS and 300kph-0 is also better than the current Guinness world record time, which was set by the Agera R (6.66S) whereas the non-official record is held by the Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 (6.5s and 269m). We have to keep in mind that the P1 is a track monster and was not specifically made for pure straight-line speed and acceleration. smile

P1 is lapping the Ring now. Should easily break the current record of 6:57.

Faster than the Veyron SS to the quarter mile is the standout number personally. That's crazy especially as the P1 is supposed to be track optimised and therefore will be running a fair amount of drag even with all the DRS etc gubbins.

Lots of the press are reporting 6:47, can't wait until they announce how it has done.

Standard tyres of course. They were specially developed by Pirelli for the P1.

I doubt very much that it would do sub 7 seconds in standard trim. Even Captain Kirk with a fully functional Enterprise would struggle to get round that fast... Now, 7 minutes on the other hand - that's more believable and as Porsche has already shown, very possible.

Well I wouldn't necessarily call those tyres 'standard tyres' either to be honest.. The blurb at the time I believe was that the P1 would have a tyre that was as close to a slick as was possible to be road legal so one would expect something along the lines of at least a Trofeo. Given the downforce and capability of the P1, that would be minimum one should expect really of the tyres it comes with....

Well, it doesn't really matter what you would call them does it?
If they're fitted to the car as standard, then they're standard tyres, which I would expect
to be road legal.
