So that puts the 12c up to 665hp. that is over and above the 650S. Sounds surprising. I'm fortunate enough to be driving the 650S in the morning after placing an order a week or so back. Sadly someone drove into me on the motorway and wrote off my beloved 12C. I'd just had the MSO front end, iris upgrade and various carbonfibre components added. Seeing this thread made me quite sad!

I'll post a report on the 650S over the weekend!

That is certainly news to me if that was Mclaren factory approved. 45hp above the 625PS would put the 12C above the 650S in terms of power and I am given to understand that the 650S has a few hardware changes to the engine and the extra 25 PS over the 12C was not just software. Are you sure it wasn't the MY13 update of 25PS being applied to one of the earlier cars as those were the only power updates I had heard of.

Just checked and it was a 2012 car and it was classed as a 45hp upgrade and pretty much did as it said.
Ive asked for a copy of the dyne sheets to post up.

2012s started at 600PS, hence the bump to 625PS when the 2013 upgrades were applied including the original Iris upgrade and some other minor things.

There has only been the one update to the ECU which was retrospectively applied to all 12Cs on their next visit to a service centre, and the only other upgrade thing has been the installation of the new Android navigation system.

Will be interesting to see what the story is here though, because even many aftermarket tuners have decided not to touch the 12C's mapping because it's so good from the outset.

This sounds like the original power uplift. The 650s has a few mechanical mods, different shaped combustion chambers as one example.

Thanks, Luckily it was quite a clear road, but they just changed lanes into me and forced me into the central reservation. over £100k of damage, so car written off, but they were charged with careless driving and it has all been resolved by their insurance company. I must say, I am very impressed by the way the car handled the accident. The passenger cell was completely unscathed. Gives me alot of confidence in Mclaren and hence I'm down for a 650S.
