I know it's been discussed before however my search skills have let me down.

What is the best year to buy ? value versus updates ...I'm strangely drawn to a 2012 car (but it has iris1 ...indented buttons directly below the screen....is this correct?)

Is there anything else I should be checking ?

Cheers

I had a 2011 and 2012

Definitely I would go for 2012. That car was debugged

The answer is simple. You go for the latest model you can afford. Get it from a McLaren dealer, make sure if you buy a 12c that it has the IRIS2 updates. Check the spac because a lot of items are classed as extras...such as, reversing camera, DAB radio, Carbon Pack, Sports exhaust, Stelth pack, light weight wheels etc etc...oh and carbon brakes.. Some colours are more popular than others..so choose wisely! But they are a brilliant car.

Hmmm

Only really interested in those things that make it go, stop and look
As frustrating as iris 1 is, I think I can live with poor sat nav etc

Same here,

I'd much rather the sat nav ect to be bad or inefficient than the clutch be on its way out after 10k, and I certainly wouldn't pay to upgrade it @ 7k.

Mine has the Iris 1 and I haven't struggled with it tbh.

As I said...check the spec. The better the spec the more chance u have of a good resale. The IRIS 2 upgrade frankly is a must especially if u think you are going to use it as a daily driver or certainly if you are going to put a few miles on it.
