Is that the one that used to be driven around London an awful lot by its previous owner and has lots of MSO and carbon extras?

If so I was tempted by that myself.

I went Tarocco Orange because I thought it was the best colour, what other people may think is a complete irrelevance. Why on earth anyone would avoid the colour they like most in case it might cost them a few quid at some indeterminate time is a mystery to me.
yes
Especially at this level
Napier wasn't around when I ordered mine, once I saw VR in the flesh that was decision made.
For me the factory tour helped a lot, seeing so many different colours next to each other in the cars in a well lit room
+1 on Tarocco orange. Loved Brad's spider when I saw it in France last year. I honestly do not get subtle colours on such special cars.

It should be an event, every drive attracting camera phones and big smiles. And if its black or grey you'll be nicely and disappointingly anonymous. Missing out on a big part of the experience IMHO.

In McLarens case Orange is of course the default bold choice because of it's heritage (like Ferrari Rosso Corsa ) but I like green on the 650 too. Personally discounted darker colours in my search

On a separate note mate, is LHD a hindrance in the RS?

Overtaking in the UK can be occasionally a bit of a pain as visibility is more compromised but otherwise it's really not an issue with a bit of patience. Would absolutely not be a factor against LHD imo.

That said, I do find LHD beetles and Ferraris have a considerably better seating position than RHD while conversely I like the RHD McLaren seating position (which really is absolutely spot on I think) more than LHD.

I covered 9000 miles roughly in my Gallardo last year just over half of that was in Europe. LHD/RHD seems a 50:50 call for my use

As I think I told you last year. the weird thing is I've done my miles in Europe with the RHD car and in the UK with the LHD ones!

But more seriously, I do think you are slightly missing out on just about the best rhd seating position by going lhd in the McLaren and overtaking in Europe really is never ever an issue with that car with liberal use of the loud pedal even with a slightly larger than ideal gap... hehe

Aurora Blue was my preferred "discrete" colour. I too looked at Storm Grey but my Meteorite Silver Vanquish can be almost as bad as black in showing road muck. Somehow the blue seems to need to be much dirtier before it shows!

I would suggest it is the combination of carbon and colour that is important in terms of aftermarket values.

But the real fun is driving the thing - an amazing machine!

The great thing about McLaren's is for some reason they tend to look great in any colour. They are not colour sensitive in the way other cars are, I don't think I have seen a bad colour.

When I was looking for mine I wanted volcano orange or red. There were no reds for sale so I went to see 3 VO's. The volcano colours look awesome but come with a warning. The original paint supplier was changed and therefore it's very hard to match the paint if it's chipped or damaged. Usually you have to paint the whole panel and then the paint may not quite match. Therefore with volcano you MUST get a full protection wrap and you MUST inspect every panel for colour match and chips/ scratches. If you still want volcano then get it but remember it's higher maintenance than the others but if you are prepared to look after it they are gorgeous.

With this in mind I decided to get a flat colour. I discounted black as I have just had 7 years of black cars and fancied a change from seeing swirl marks. I love McLaren orange but there was not one in my price range and spec at the time of looking. Then I saw a white one and loved it and bought it on the spot. I never thought I would get white but it looks amazing.

Since I have got mine I have met up with the McLaren crew and seen many colours and I have been impressed with the metallic greys, they really suit the car well as does blue. There is a very nice flat mid blue, like Bugatti blue that looks stunning.

However you will find, like me, that finding the colour and spec in the price you want to pay is difficult. There are not many of these cars. Go and see a range of colours in your price / spec range and get the car that is good overall, it may not be your first choice for colour but as I said they look amazing in all colours. Then go and drive it, they are awesome. Have fun looking.

Having seen your car last Saturday I can confirm it looked very stunning indeed :-)

I went for the Storn Grey one at Romans. Pick up time : 2 hours 19 minutes and counting :-)

Good spot TTMonkey!

My 650 has the suspension lifter fitted. Essential for the front end to clear my steep drive-in. It is at full lift in the photo.

I have. And spent the afternoon exploring it. These McLarens are really special machines. I also love that only people who are into cars a know what it is.

Ah that explains it. Looks like someone had put 16" wheels on it or something!
bet it looks way more purposeful at normal suspension levels.
