12c trade bids
Discussion
Mereside have bought / sold a couple and I would definitely give Hippo Prestige in Blackburn a try too.
Let us know how you get on.
Main dealers seem to do many sale or return, I'd agree main dealer £10k less than their retail if they have to buy into stock, less on SoR
Indies sell cheaper and probably half the margin so worth an ask.
Hippo have bought 3 cars off me no trouble at all, they did my R8 SoR so I got what I wanted back - speak to Tom, Richard or Greg.
12c rare and desirable - only one at main dealers and Manchester couldn't find me one so I bought privately.
I'd wait to see if prices rise, surely can't go down?
Good luck!

Thanks for all the replies.
My assumption was around 10k less than what you see advertised currently in dealers.
The reason I ask the question is they appear excellent value for not much more than 100k
For the time being they are slightly out of my budget for a 4th car but I will watch the market closely, not that I can see them drifting much from there current price range.

Good afternoon all
Could someone in the know please give me an indication what a reputable dealer would offer (trade to buy) for a 2011 plate car with full Mclaren service history and around 10k on the clock?
Many thanks
Hi, the main issue with non main dealer cars seems to be around the warranty, as a buyer most want the McLaren warranty and the comfort that appears to give, even though other warranties are available.Could someone in the know please give me an indication what a reputable dealer would offer (trade to buy) for a 2011 plate car with full Mclaren service history and around 10k on the clock?
Many thanks
However to answer your question 100 - 105k won't be far off the mark
For the dealer to offer you £100k, he needs to add £3.5k Warranty, £2k prep, his Profit £10k, room for manoeuvre on the price £3k, and VAT £3k. So he has to advertise it for £121,500. That would be too high for a 2011 car....
If the dealer is buying it off you as opposed to taking it on SOR, £90-95k max is what he will offer.

The non franchised ? dealer cant offer the 3.5k warranty it can only transfer between private owners or from Macca as far as I am aware.
I don't entirely disagree with your maths however over winter 2014-15 I ran a wanted add bidding 100k for a 12c (this was at the time when they were bad news and being slagged off everywhere ) closest I got was an offer by a distressed seller at 108, I would be very surprised if trade bids were 90k today.

VAT on the profit of £10k vat would only be £2k, and adding this onto the price is a bit backwards as it would make the actual margin approx £12k...?If the dealer is buying it off you as opposed to taking it on SOR, £90-95k max is what he will offer.
£100k+£3.5k+£2k+£10k would make it a more realistic £115,500
This car (same one?) has been around for a while now and not shifting. Possibly supports the £90-95 type bids discussed above.

Aberdeenshire and mid spec 2011 car
Not an easy private sale at circa £110k but looks nice enough - 15 days to go so watch this space.
Bit more info on annual mileage, service dates and full specification might help - does it have lift, tracker, audio upgrade, looks like Iris 2 but is it, sports exhaust, etc?

8 RHD cars for sale and 3 "wanted" ads from dealers on PH for 12Cs. And cars sold quickly.
Wouldn't let a dealer have it for less than £100k
Wouldn't let a dealer have it for less than £100k
And where exactly is the dealer supposed to put butter in the fridge at that money?
Oh of course, he's a dealer - he's not allowed to earn a living is he?
But you will be the first to shout at him when the nav fks up again or the car won't let you in....
Half a chance here....

VAT in the motor trade does not take "profit" into consideration.£100k+£3.5k+£2k+£10k would make it a more realistic £115,500
If the dealer gave £100,000.00 for the car and sold for £121,500.00 - his liability on that is £4300.00 - then you need to take away warranty, service, prep etc...
I would highly recommend Alistair Bols, I believe he will give you good advice but above all else I think he will be the best to sell your car for you if you want to do a commission sale.
I have followed the 12C market for the past 2 years, as per previous poster there are less 12C's on the market now than there has been in last 2 years. I have seen a steady average of around 15 cars, peak was October last year when rose to around 22 but has dropped down to 7 to 8 in the past few weeks. Oddly supply hasn't affected pricing - yet!
Good luck with your sale.

I seem to have missed the new law that compels a car dealer to buy at the price the seller demands. I'm not an expert but the process used to involve an old fashioned thing called negotiation based upon the factors at hand.
Just for your information I don't shout at car dealers. Nor do I presume to know what a complete stranger may or may not do in some hypothetical situation, that I've just invented to try and score some points.
