12c trade bids

I seem to have missed the new law that compels a car dealer to buy at the price the seller demands. I'm not an expert but the process used to involve an old fashioned thing called negotiation based upon the factors at hand.
Just for your information I don't shout at car dealers. Nor do I presume to know what a complete stranger may or may not do in some hypothetical situation, that I've just invented to try and score some points.
Was pissed - apologies. Just for your information I don't shout at car dealers. Nor do I presume to know what a complete stranger may or may not do in some hypothetical situation, that I've just invented to try and score some points.
Dealer couldn't buy for £100K and get a sensible profit - that's all I really needed to say.
Again - my bad.

Alastair Bols would be a good person to speak to as others have said. Very helpful chap.
(+2) I heard, but I may be wrong and will stand corrected, that his SOR charge is in the region of £5-£10k, depending on value of car. If not TH Boler will sell for £5k (I don't know them, just seen their ad's) If you have a warranty you can pass this on using an SOR. If a 2011 car with 10,000 miles is around £120,000 at McL and £115,000 at indy then if the indy does not need to warrant, as you pass yours on, then that would suggest you should get £110,000 if you have a warranty from an SOR sale, of which the dealer would be liable for his own vat or charge you VAT on top £1,000, so worst case £109,000 SOR ? Good afternoon all
Could someone in the know please give me an indication what a reputable dealer would offer (trade to buy) for a 2011 plate car with full Mclaren service history and around 10k on the clock?
Many thanks
I still stand by my £90-95k price. Ring a dealer and see for yourself. Could someone in the know please give me an indication what a reputable dealer would offer (trade to buy) for a 2011 plate car with full Mclaren service history and around 10k on the clock?

SOR is not comparable. It's risky for a start - your car may sell and you may not get your money. The dealer has no risk, nor does he have to use his own cash. It's a win win for a dealer.
Gotta love Pistonheads - you have RamboLambo trying to talk prices up and TP321 trying to talk them down.....
I was out in my 12C today for the first time in a few weeks and after a spirited drive from London into leafy Bucks to visit my parents, it's safe to say it'll be a "Foxtrot Oscar" to a trade bid under the ton - this car is a keeper. Remember the same carry on when I had a 997 GT3 RS - just keep hold of 'em

...and I can't see that £95k figure going up now that a brand new McLaren is available for £126k...
And what will happen to 12c Spider prices when the £140k 540 Spider comes out next year??
Sorry I don't aim to talk the market down, but just to give some forward guidance about what's coming in the future....

You're right though - there are some great cars coming down the pipeline from McLaren.
The 540 will be more like £137k+ (see 540 thread). There are lots of personal decisions to be made when deciding to buy a new 540 vs a Super Series 625PS 12C with a lot more tech for what, £109k to £127k which is where they seem to be trading at the moment.
Both great cars. Great choice.
I's almost a moot point anyway, as there are hardly any 12C for sale!
If the MP4 is such a great car why did these two top drivers dislike it so much? could it have been a bad one?
As for price i agree with what has been said as the newer Mclarens become ever cheaper i would be surprised if this model increased in value.

There are two 650s offered for sale by main dealers for £169k. They are both 2014 cars. Now a lot has been said that the 12c was flawed, and that the 650s but everything right that was wrong with the 12c. Both these 650s would have been £235-245k new in 2014. I therefore find that depreciation of £65-75k on the dealer asking price as quite shocking over just two years...
It will be interesting to see how the 570/540 does in this respect (I expect it to do better), but nevertheless, after a year or two, the used 540/570 prices will be on par with used 12c prices, thus causing further downward price pressure.

It's a bad car because they couldn't powerslide it around corners......hmmm......lolAs for price i agree with what has been said as the newer Mclarens become ever cheaper i would be surprised if this model increased in value.

All of the early cars received revisions to correct the things people had issues with such as the Iris, the addition of the ISG and the BHP increase to 616 bhp.....
The current price of the 12c makes it a no brainer to many hence the current swell in buyers.....resulting in a sever lack of cars for sale, especially decent spec one.....I wanted a mcLaren Orange one when buying and at that time there was 5 for sale, Alastair Bols had three of them........now I don't think there's a single one out there bar a LHD car.........I certainly have no illusions that it's going to remotely shoot up in value but I don't see them retailing below £100k for decent cars for a long time IMO...........

In all honesty the only way for you to really tell is to try one yourself rather than blindly believing the automotive press which tends to have it's own agenda. I think it is fair to say I've driven and tracked the car more than most here on the forums, admittedly nowhere close to the level of Plato or Needell but in the conditions they were driving the car, ie dry and reasonable temperature I have never ever found the handling of the 12c to be anything other than very secure and progressive, even if the brake steer function kicking in can feel a bit unnatural in slow corners. A friend who can and has driven his car sub 7:30 btg agrees with that as well i might add. That said, the car cannot easily do a full on powerslide of the likes Needell tends to do though as the electronics were just not calibrated for that lind of driving imo and i also do note I've not actually seen an owner wilfully trying to wreck £250 rear tyres in that way either. In the wet, on track it's a very different car though and is a total handful to drive.
