Andy74B will no doubt correct me but no P1GTR were built as road cars and you have now seen both the UK registered conversions

I have heard that there will be anything up to either 20 or 24 road legal conversions. They will be performed by Lanzante, of course.

Currently, the highest known car number of a P1 GTR, to my knowledge, is 053. Andyb's car is 044 (I am sure this has been written publicly on his Instagram etc).

Lanzante is giving each conversion a Road Conversion Number, with the highest I know of, so far, as being 014. But these numbers are a lot harder to come by.

Now the rumours going around just now is that there will be 4 road legal US-Spec GTR. But apparently only one will go to the US, which is rather odd and yet to be verified.

All Road Converted P1 GTR seem to get registered in the UK before export.

I've found it interesting that the P1 GTRs were supplied with a VIN, which seems to aid the Road Conversion process. The GT3 cars, and track cars supplied by McLaren and other seem to be provided with chassis numbers only.

Now for extra geekiness. Standard Road Car VINs have VINs that end in 000***, whereas all GTR VINs end in 100***.

Sure Andy has said there are only two staying in the UK, his and a mate's

The chap who has the reg' plate P1 GTR (on a Renault Megane) wanted over £100k for it, but one of the P1's may end up with this on

With at least 25 getting the road conversion, the conversions being done in the UK, and the fact that the conversion is not road legal in many places outside the UK, I would be surprised if only 2 were staying in UK.

There are 2 now with UK owners, maybe more staying within the UK with owners who are based abroad. I believe they are all UK Registered first as it makes it easier to then register / certificate in other country's, as the UK registration / certification is seen as more stringent than most (?). There are some changes needing to be made for certain markets, like a different exhaust housing for a certain market as the exhaust tips are classed as too sharp, smaller rear wings for the Japanese market etc.

Lanzante have finished conversion #14, on build #44 and still have more to work on in their workshop. I am led to believe that only one chassis has its corresponding build number matching with its conversion number, and that car is to reside abroad.

I am led to also believe there are 3 road converted P1 GTR's going to / already in the US. Its safe to say a fair number of the remaining road converted GTR's are going to the Middle East, Japan and Europe, with certain other country's getting a smaller number.

I have a feeling that Mclaren will have noticed that this is an easy money earner for them so will probably add Vins to race cars - I would certainly consider a road legal GT3

Does anyone have a list of all the modifications they (have to) make in order to make it road legal? Just curious.

This appears to me to be a normal GTR with Lanzante after-market modifications. No good reason for the "LM" vinyl sticker.

Not just aftermarket sticker. A lot of development has gone into this car. Full spec will be released soon.

The car had problems that needed development?

Just had 2 days on track in mine and no problems.

There are always ways to improve cars, you should know given the work you did with the F1.

The F1s really did have a couple of issues, derived from the limits of the technology of the time (tyres, brakes). I thought the P1s, especially the GTRs, were completely sorted.
