I did a 300mile round trip today in the 12C spider. Urban congestion, motorway, A303, minor roads. Roof up, roof down. 20 to 35C. And I ended the day fresh as a daisy, the car having monster end every road, every condition.

I don't think it matters 'which is best'. They can all operate at a level well above that most drivers will touch and especially on the road. Buy what you can afford, the colour you want, new or old, who cares....they are all supremely capable and enjoyable. I have never owner a finer road sports car.

I've been looking at 12c for around 12 months and almost bought a spider last October, only to get beaten to it by another lucky chap. I was lucky enough to get a tour of the mtc and was impressed with the operation and how well made they are, definitely a top of the market manufacturer. Hope they don't start making the sort of numbers Ferrari do as it will dilute the brand I think, being half the production does make a mclaren a rarer spot.

As to looks for me personally I like the 12c front very well designed to pay tribute to the f1 styling, the rear is not everyone's taste but I like it. Side on the profile is beautiful and the doors up looks how super cars should do, interior is again a mix of alcantara, carbon and leather very luxurious. I actually tested one for the first time this week and knew they were fast but knowing and experiencing it first hand puts it in perspective. I'm sure the 650 is faster and an improvement but it just doesn't do it on looks for me.

Hopefully conclude my deal on the one I'm looking at very soon as I can't wait to get behind the wheel again.

I own a 12C spider, my personal opinion is that the 650 will be the fastest and best handling, the 12C is the best looking and shouldn't lose you money, the 570 will lose money but will have the long warranty. Get a good colour and spec and don't look back.

A number of PH members bought McLarens at the begining of the year and a private owners group on FaceBook was set up.

This has proven very successful and now has nearly 20% of UK owners as members.

There is a website www.mclarenowners.org.uk that anyone can browse and it includes an apllication to join the closed FB group for those that already own a McLaren.

For any prospective owners there is a 'buyers guide' http://media.wix.com/ugd/1ee198_65c466e0ae0c4606aa... which gives some valuable pointers as to things to look out for or be aware of.

If you post details of the car you are looking at there is a good chance that someone will know at least some of its history.

Whilst I'm no doubt biased, I'm sure you won't regret buying a Macca. They really are outstandingly capable and rewarding cars and the owners group far more down-to-earth and friendly than similar groups for other supercar brands.

Ha yes I hadn't noticed that! The Nomad will replace a 996 GT3. More fun I suspect.
