what modern supercar isn't?
They are all too fat. That is the problem with most new cars. Don't get me wrong I love supercars, but would never buy one. There are lots of other cars that fall into the same category, e.g. M5. I would never enjoy crawling along B roads scratching the the side of the car on hedges to let some SUV drive by. Give me a small car with a reasonable amount of power. Much more fun for a cross country blast. Mine fits through a 210 cm door aperture with about 5cm spare each side to the folded in wing mirror. The distance to the rear wing is greater as the folded wing mirrors are still the widest part of the car. Once through the door I have plenty of room to open the door.
As regards visibility and placement on the road ALL McLarens are very easy to navigate as the wrap around windscreen, well set back small A pillars and good low down seating position makes vision as good as most daily cars. I also like the fact that you can clearly see the front wings to aid you with the width of the car. Believe me a Huracan is a totally different proposition

Come to think of it, I did wonder why I don't go to many. Lovely car, enjoy & you have the best of both worlds with that old snotter.

What ballpark discounts are dealers now giving against existing stock?
It depends on the dealer and depends on how you are buying it, I spent a lot of time trying to get a deal on a 12 month old 570s from Glasgow without any real progress, they dropped £500 (yes, I know!) but seamed to just want to sell me finance to cover the short-fall even though it was going to be a cash purchase with trade-in. Manchester seamed to be much more proactive about actually selling me a car, they had the right car, brand new and they made the experience much more enjoyable despite a few hic-ups along the way. In summery, Manchester seemed to be in the business of selling cars where Glasgow weren't, also no two deals will be the same so it's best to speak to the dealers and run through your own personally requirements and see what they can and can't do.

Glasgow always seem to price their used cars "keenly" so I kind of get their more no haggle pricing strategy which is at least transparent. In summery, Manchester seemed to be in the business of selling cars where Glasgow weren't, also no two deals will be the same so it's best to speak to the dealers and run through your own personally requirements and see what they can and can't do.
Others may price higher and give you £5k more for your px or a discount for cash.
With production switching from 570S to concentrate on 720S now I doubt there is a lot of cars in the pipeline and therefore not the pressure to move them on with discounting which has been far less on the sport series than previous super series anyway. Basic supply and demand but there is always a chance you can strike lucky at the end of the year if there is an old stock unit of your particular liking

I very much doubt they are "switching" production from 5xx series to 720, because both series will be built in parallel in the same factory, and there would be quite a large number of 5xx series still on backorder.Edited by RamboLambo on Wednesday 17th May 19:48
think its great when people get something really special in this case a McLaren or like the Aston Martin Vanquish on another thread that sounds like it has come from the bowls of hell.
I am not at all jealous as I got to buy a lovely Bungalow for my Mother in Law to live in and also be closer to us..did I mention I wasn't jealous.
Beautiful stunning car.

Yes production will be concentrating on 720S and 570S spider launch allocation cars which means effectively all cars being produced will be sold orders only. As such the chances of picking up a "deal" on a regular 570S coupe are limited unless its a cancelled order. There will simply not be a gloat of unsold sport series cars floating around.
Good place to be in for McLaren and existing owners but no so good for necessarily for bargain hunters. A few demo's are currently advertised at circa £170k but I have not compared that to original list but cant be far off it looking at the specs

Fabulous car Paul. Well done and enjoy in good health. Blade Silver looks the business (I'm biased of course) and the orange seat belts were a good choice.
You are going to enjoy the first few weeks (and beyond) of ownership. Just be prepared for the positive comments, picture and video taking from JP.
