I'm sure they are very good. They must be or they wouldn't have the close relationship they have with McLaren. They certainly charge McLaren prices!

So £1.8 million more than the Performante buys you 10 seconds...
If you want to go fast....

I take your point but the GTR wasn't £1.8m new. It's just been a great investment.
It wasn't? There were three slightly different packages offered, the average price of which was very near to £1.8m.
I stand corrected.
Didn't the price include a year or two of special track events also?

One thing not in doubt : Kenny Brack is a proper nutter.
The price of the P1 LM was in the region of £3m+ boxedin

Is it really though? They charge quarter of a million on top of the P1 GTR.

I'm sure they are very good at what they do but so they should be at that money. It's not alchemy!

I will stick with the Performante thanks.
Performante scored only four and a half stars in the latest Autocar Review.
Not bad but perhaps it's not quite the perfect car that Lamborghini would have us believe.

Back to topic - How soon before a road car dips below 6.30?

Firstly please provide proof Lamborghini have said it's "the perfect car".

And secondly (and less importantly) Autocar are a joke these days. Completely fallen from grace.

There were three packages available.
The "basic" package was the car only. It's been a while, but I think that was £1.55m.
The intermediate package included spares and tools. That was around £1.80m.
The full ticket included the above plus something like 1 1/2 seasons of track events, tuition and simulator time. That was either £1.90m or £1.95m.

Hell, I'm not a professional car journalist and I've not driven a Performante but there has been a lot of hype around this car.
All I can be sure of is: it sounds good, an unverified spec example with roll cage and no passenger seat went fast around the Ring in the hands of their pro test driver and I don't like the look of it (I think it looks inelegant, too short and stubby but I didn't like the standard Huracan either so no surprise there).

So, I am interested to read what the professional journalists think. Sure, they will have a subjective view too but they can give some context having driven all the competitors.

Have you driven one?
Are you a journalist by trade?
How can you be so sure Autocar are wrong?
Or are you just blindly partisan?

Hi Maldini35,

I'm going to call you out. You are RamboLambo's b'stard love child and I claim my £5.

Too much words, not enough photos.

Here is my photo of LM 04, seen earlier this week in France.

If I'm RL's lovechild perhaps PurpleAki was similarly squired from Juno?

Yes, all good honest car based nonsense. Although I try and avoid any personal slanging.

Anyway, apologies if I have been a little eager posting.

Still, I would be interested to know why you think Autocar has so obviously got it wrong.

Genuine question - PurpleAki - have you driven the Performante?

I clearly haven't so was keen to read the reviews.

Hi Sardis,

This is a McLaren thread so you shouldn't be too surprised to hear from a few fans of the brand.

What's all this about claiming £5?

Regardless of my dubious parentage, I've genuinely no idea what you're on about confused

It's an arcane reference to a publicity stunt run by the Daily Mirror (?) many years ago. Don't worry I'm back on my meds now so all is well...wobble

Isn't the LM effectively a racing car? Don't you have to go to a special place to make it road legal? Surely it doesn't count if that's the case?

Just checked I was thinking about the P1GTR.

And Lanzante are the company who can convert it from race track only to road legal.

You are correct. Also, it just might be possible - speaking purely theoretically now - that they remove certain parts from the GTR and replace them with P1 parts in order to pass the road-legality test, but then put the original, non-road-legal parts back on again, making the car no longer road-legal. Just possibly....
