£200k for a 570 Spider is a joke when a 488 Spider can be had for £240k. Never mind not being on the same page...it’s not even in the same book..
, but I don't like the 488 Spider.... or the 488, or the 458 GTB or any other recent Ferrari to be honest. Your constant posting on the McLaren forum about how much you like the Ferrari is amusing though, do you have lots of them as 'investments'?
Yes same hear, just don’t get the whole infatuation with Ferrari, if that’s your thing get posting on the Ferrari forums and stop cluttering up the McLaren forums with your negativity all the time.

I'm assuming you formed that assumption from playing forza with your school buddies and not from actual driving experience?I had a 488 and then purchased a 570 to use as a daily stter as I was putting to much mileage on the Ferrari.
I sold it within a month of McLaren ownership as it's not £60ks worth more car and I couldn't even be bothered to drive it. The 570 is superior in every way apart from speed and a simple remap sorted that out.

You're absolutely right the 488 spider just isn't there. Biggest mistake Ferrari could make was going turbo charged and trying to compete directly with McLaren. When a sport series holds its own with a 488 and a 720 S blows it away, its game overFunny really but I was an F snob, had a few 458's , including a spider, then a 488, ending on a 458 special. Needed some cash back out so chopped into a 570s then wandered into a showroom and saw a Mac 650S spider. Big big surprise for me, I always had this thing about Mac's being boring/bland, sounding rubbish, a bit too clinical, which really was a bit daft bearing in mind I never drove one. But I have to say the 570s was a great car but when I saw the 650s spider with the top down decided to change again...650S is an amazing car, I have been converted, really quite a shock to me, never expected it to be so good on all fronts, biggest surprise is it really does sound very well, loving dropping the rear window to get the extra growl.don't think I would go back to Ferrari's now at all, the 458 spider suffered a bit of shake with the top down , just don't feel that in the Mac at all
Problem is now started looking at 675LT spiders, I really must stop that as they are way too much ££ for the difference to the 650..but the worm is in the brain!

May I ask how the 570 and 650 compared, the 570 is pretty damn good so I'm especially interested in what you like more about the 650 ?Problem is now started looking at 675LT spiders, I really must stop that as they are way too much ££ for the difference to the 650..but the worm is in the brain!

Same thing here: big ferrari fan (still am), had my mind set on a 488 spider, until I drove a 650 CanAm ...
These cars are very close in the way they drive imho. Mac has slightly better handling, F has slightly better box and engine. The rarity of the CanAm did it for me. 488 amazing car though, make no mistake, could easily have gone that way.
And Canam felt bit more solid than the 570.

The difference to me between the 570 & the 650S, is in the 650 feels 'rawer' bit more alive. The 570S feels like a fast car that can be used every day, very well built. When I first got it the 650 , closed the door and set off, I thought , blimey it feels a bit more 'rickety' not quite as solid, but then as you get going I just felt the 650 more, a rawer edge, that 'oh o I get it now, I am in a race car'
reminded me of the difference I felt between a 458 Italia & the speciale, very similar, but just an extra raw edge
the 650S being a spider as well, putting the roof down is a bonus, and even with the roof up, dropping the rear window , sounds great.
If I was having just one car, then I think the 570 would do it, but as a third car for the 'blast' days the 650S just feels more special & alive.
that's my impressions, I am not a particulary good driver, don't do track days etc, but have owned many supercars, so my opinions are not from a clever driver perspective, just from your average Joe driving on the lovely Yorkshire roads!

Yes the car is fantastic, we picked it up from MacBrum and drove into north wales for a three days of hooning round the Evo triangle and some other very special routes it was great fun.
Best thing about the Spider is being able to drop the back window and listen to the MSO exhaust it has a much louder sound than the normal sports exhaust, it sounds very angry all the time. The downside is some drone at motorway speeds so the only option is to turn the music up, luckily I live in Dorset and we have no motorways
I could not tell any difference in how the Spider drove compared to my previous coupe as the roads were very wet and covered in all kinds of crap and I could not give it maximum attack in these conditions but so far very impressed with how the car handles.
I was very impressed with the latest Pirelli P Zero’s (non Cora’s) they clung on gamely in the conditions approaching some of the bends I thought we are never going to get round
The colour also draws lots of attention as well all favourable, the main question from people is always as with any McLaren is that a P1 mate
