Hi all.

I'm toying with the idea of one of these as I seem to be putting way to many miles on my 488 and my Comp pack F80 really isn't doing it for me so was going to chop that for one of these.

Are they really livable with as a daily as I've read mixed reviews on the build quality on the interior along with reliability and was interested on people's views regarding this? Another, and possibly the main thing is rattles - do they suffer with these as it's enough to make me sell a car as well, not that it's relevant but I'll probably put around 12k on it anually.

Also the one I'm looking at has the upgraded system - I like to listen to my music loud but again have heard that this system will make it rattle like a badly built ford focus, any owners care to confirm?

How do they stack up in terms of servicing and the schedule, and also costs would be handy if anyone has this info to hand?

Finally what's good to look for in terms of spec?

Thanks in advance guys

Personally I would just daily the 488 - it is not like it will fall apart
From a cost perspective I'd say that is cheaper than having a 488 and a 570 - and then having two similar types of cars sitting next to each other.

I've used my 540 as a daily driver for the past 9 months, no real issues to report, one tiny rattle, ( seat belt mounting, sorted easily ). The build quality's fine, nothing's dropped off or looks likely to, I've got the upgraded music system too but I couldn't comment on listening to it loud as it's not my thing in a car. Servicing isn't crazy money, spec wise get the lift as you will need it! Anything else is down to personal taste.

I see no reason why you couldn't use the 570S as a daily, It rides beautifully, has great visibility, great to drive at low speed and the stereo is good if you opt for the Bowers setup. Storage is limited but you can get a man size suitcase in the front boot (boot on 488 is a fair bit larger) and some extra storage on the rear shelf.

The main reason I don't use it as a daily is because it attracts a hell of a lot of attention (more than a 458 / 488) which is not my thing and I do quite a lot of miles and prefer to spilt it between vehicles.

Options I would look for would be security pack (park sensors, rear camera, front lift & alarm) & Bowers & Wilkins if you like your music and sports exhaust if that's your thing. The rest is just cosmetic / personal preference. Comfort entry doesn't work that well and cant really see the point in the electric steering column, soft close doors I cant really offer an opinion on as I do not know what the standard ones are like.

Servicing is every 12 months and I believe the cost is circa 1K

Reliability inst perfect which is frustrating but that may be because mine was an early car.

I use a 991 Turbo S as a daily and in my view it's hard to beat but I'm guessing you either have one or have been there already!

Good luck, let us know what you choose!

Thanks for the input Guys.

So have pretty much done a deal on a car and will be sending a depo over tomorrow with a view to collect next week.

Only thing that bothers me is its a massive spec car that has lost just over £40k in a little over a year.

How do we see the residuals holding up on these?

Hard to say, there's a few around but new orders are taking time to come through, the reality often being longer than the quote lead time, a 6 month wait wouldn't be unusual. I'd grab the higher specced car, it's your gain!

Shouldn't it bother you more if it was still at list after a year?

Without wanting to sound like an idiot, it's a no win situation surely. if a car hasn't gone down, people worry that there's more to lose and if it already has lost a fair chunk people worry again it'd lose even more. In this case I guess the overload on the options list is the reason as options are definitely not imo equal wrt to holding their value second hand.

So deposit paid and deal done with a view to picking up this week, thanks for all the input.

Car has carbon absolutely everywhere bar mirrors and I genuinely couldn't believe how well it drove - you can certainly feel the rigidity of the carbon tub.

Will post up some pics upon collection.

If anyone's looking for a cheap F80 comp pack M3 feel free to give me a shout.

You're going to love it and you're going to want to drive it everywhere and all the time. And when you go away on business trips and have rental cars you're going wish you could have brought your 570S with you instead smile

Perfect daily super car IMHO. My office is 110 miles away down in West London, I got 34mpg from a 570 for the trip driving at lane 3 cruise altitude. What's not to like?

Hello chaps

had mine for 2 weeks and done 800 miles. Its a great daily driver, great turning circle, surpassingly complaint suspension in normal and feels special even at 20mph.

I have noticed two rattles but had rattles in every supercar I have owned, will get Mclaren to deal with them.

I've had mine for a month now including 10 days at McAscot to fix inoperative windscreen wipers (but I was in Spain so no loss). Have done 1400 miles already and tracked it at Castle Combe.

Heading to the gym in it shortly, don't see why it could not be a daily.
