Have to say I really like the 570GT. It's interesting how this model has garnered so much praise and generated so many positive stories from owners. I went to Ascot and test drove one about 6 months ago. Thought it was great but the arrogance of the sales guy was enough to put me off any further interest. I don't expect any special treatment but as the owner of two Ferraris and a 911 I didn't expect to feel like I was taking up his clearly valuable time. Anyway - I digress.
My point is rather that I think the de-emphasis of the performance credentials of the GT has helped it tremendously. Lets face it, the performance limits of modern cars have now thoroughly surpassed those of the general supercar buying market. It's neither safe nor legal to take them anywhere near their limits on public roads and how many owners have the time or inclination to track their cars much? So we're faced with ever faster cars, diminishing 0-60 times, and quicker Nurburgring laps, which in reality we can't or won't ever access. It's just not as appealing anymore - outside of bragging rights..
So the GT is a breath of fresh air in the supercar market. It's a McLaren so we know it's fast and handles well, but what is boasted is that it's also comfortable, has some additional space, and if needed my mother could drive it. (sorry Mum). It won't have sand kicked in it's face by the next model released because it doesn't play that game. Lets face it, the 570S and the 650S are both staring down the barrel of a gun - the next one released will be better, in fact it's already done so. The GT however remains unaffected - it's still the best GT they make. And although the next GT may date this one, let's face it, an ageing grand tourer is a good thing - just go read any manufacturers back catalogue.

Love the GT look more than my 570S - nicer rear window and panoramic roof, but its just too soft. Give me a GT with track pack, racing seats and MSO exhaust

Defeats the objective of a GT surely?
Yes as a pure GT car but I prefer the looks but not driving style. I think the GT has a cleaner look and nicer lines than the S and the panoramic roof is lovely. If it drove more like the S it would be the best of both. I'm sure MSO would do racing seats and an exhaust but I know a lot of customers have made the same comment as me so if McLaren take on board the feedback there might be a formal GTS or track pack editionRamboLambo said:

Agree......love the roof and the rear deck of the GT..................but I had one for two months and got a bit bored if I'm honest......really muted exhaust note......extra interior sound deadening......steel brakes weren't great..........throttle response felt much much less urgent than the S.........rear hatch space was never used.Doesn't make it a bad car at all, it really just depends on what you want from the car..........if you want a cross country tourer alternative to an Aston or a 911 perhaps then it's great.........but if you want more of an assault on the senses and the luxury/comfort aspects aren't important to you, then a S is the way forward.......
