720S Should I or shouldn't I?

Yes it is the most disappointing section on PH, nearly every thread dissolves into a slagging match about money or depreciation concerns.
Every day I look in and it's the same story over and over again, I know many other McLaren owners who feel the same and just don't bother to post on hear for the same reason.
Very disappointing

Global 720 production is 7 cars per week (so I have been told). SEVEN. this is a rare car! Have you seen one on the road?
Well whoever telling you that is telling porkies imo. I've seen a 720 with vin in the 600s. 7 per week would have meant production started mid last year.....Mr Cod said:

Yup. Certainly the most unless McLaren forum I've found so far.
Except it's not a McLaren forum. It's a money forum.'m looking at perhaps getting into a 650s spider in the next year, moving on from my nice but increasingly outdated AM V8V.
What do people think is going to happen to 650 spider prices in the next year? They are slightly out of budget at the moment. Will people getting into 720 over the next year or two push prices down much? Havent seen much market impact yet other than the glut of 650LTs. Will we see a sub 150k decent 650 spider in the near term?
Crystal ball gazing stuff of course but I'd be grateful for opinions.

Back to the OP. Yes if you want simply the best and fastest new road car available do it. If you are worried about future values then a few things to bear in mind as the market is a little warped because:-
Its approaching winter, its tough selling anything at this time of year so a good time to buy.
Remember 720's started at £208k. Cheapest on sale now is £254k with 3,000 miles. There are only 4 for sale from what I can see so they are not dropping in value and there are very few available.
A tiny handful of buyers are cancelling their LE cars as they bought them to tide them over till their spec cars were ready. These are now finishing production and ready.
No one makes £200k+ decisons based on the opinions of a youtuber. When spending £200k+ on a car. They go and test drive, they talk to other owners and they make their own minds up. Most Youtubers need to make sensational statements to get traffic through their channel. There is often little substance in what they say and as much as they think they are 'influencers' they are not. They are entertainment. I have watched dozens of youtubers slate the 12C and I still think its the best car I have ever driven.

Most McLaren owners stick with the brand, many current 650s owners have 720's on order and need to sell their 650's to buy their 720. This has impacted slightly on 650 values and meant some 12C owners have been selling to get into 650's. So the whole McMarket is a little jiggly. Very soon the dust will settle, once the spec cars are with the owners and they keep them. When the LE's are all sold, the 650 / 12C owners have finished swapping and winter is over prices will recover as there won't be many cars on the market. Seen it time and time again......
Agree with this post, my VR 650S is up for sale as my 720S is due to arrive soon. Expect ‘normal’ depreciation on the new car, as I’ve had on the 650S. Its approaching winter, its tough selling anything at this time of year so a good time to buy.

though I really wouldn't have asked that if I knew what this place was like. I think there is a time and place for questions about values, especially when they are good natured and constructive.
Its when every conversation degenerates into the same slanging match that it becomes tiresome. Apologies if I have offended.

I might make Youtube rubbish, but I'm still an owner/customer. An owner/customer with a reach of hundreds of thousands of people. Only takes a very very very small % of people to take on board what is said, to influence such a delicate market. There is some element of sensationalising the title of a video/thumbnail - but I stand by my experience and what is on my channel.
I couldn't justify the extra £10 from extra views at the expense of publicly lying about a brand I actually like.
There's a reason brands are ploughing big budget into hitting Youtube/Instagram and paying influencers.
Even when I did my watch video with a watch that cost £2,000, it had circa 80,000 views, & within days Chrono24 dried up with that model. I since have had circa 25-30 messages/Snapchats/Tweets of people having bought the model I mentioned.
Credible influencers do influence, as much as that may irk you.

Ahoy my bearded pigeon - CREDIBLE is the key word there. You even profess in your own video's that you know nothing about cars and are rubbish. If you are doing it for entertainment value fair enough but in terms of giving advice, meh. Hi. It's called being self deprecating and having some self awareness. Assists with making things that bit more pallatable when discussing money and various other gaudy topics, especially as I'm young and look ridiculous. Besides, I am not an expert -just a customer, like other customers. Arguably my experience is more relevant than a journo shouting around a track. You should try having some self awareness too, people might even start to think you're not a bitter gobste tt after all.

I shouldn't feed the vermin, true. But I also feel as though on a public forum like this I shouldn't leave his confused snipes sat there unanswered.I suppose a small part of me hopes he will learn something.

As far as cars go, I have forgotten more than you will ever know
If he had made money on the 720S, which was always his intention/hope, he would of said it was the best thing since sliced bread. Because he didn't he tries to harm the car and brand. IF he lost money ( and that's a BIG IF ) that's not a reflection on the car or McLaren but the general state of the market at this time especially with a distressed sale because of his incoming AVS. His next flippers seem to be lambo AVS, Huracan Performante and 812 superfast, so expect more incoming bullst
Lets hope he isn't the great "influencer" his own PR dept thinks he is FFS
