As it happens they offered me 215k for my 488 and a little bit off the macca but still 50k to change. I can’t see for the life of me that the 720 is 50k better than a 488.
Not in the world I live in anyway.
That's your prerogative but you haven't factored in the depreciation of your old model USED 488 GTB and trying to compare it with the latest and greatest NEW car. £50k seems cheap to me for a newer car that beats the 488 in every measureable way!Not in the world I live in anyway.
I paid £160k for a 430 Scuderia when my newer lower mileage F430 spider was worth £85k. Was the scuderia twice the car - NO obviously not but was it worth it YES

Because I have an unbiased view, whats wrong with that. The McLaren 720S is a great car but not the one for me, at least yet anyway. Personally I prefer to replace my 570S coupe and buy a Lamborghini Huracan Performante this time and run it alongside my McLaren 650S spider, another fantastic car, before returning to the McLaren fold again.
I think McLarens are great cars, love them to bits but having one of the last normally aspirated V10's also appeals to me and gives me the best of both worlds. Running 2 McLarens made me favour the 650S Spider too much whereas the Performante and 650S Spider are completely different and appeal for different reasons.
Not everyone agrees but I like the looks of the 488 over 458 but parking looks and the prancing horse badge aside I just don't think it competes with the McLaren 720S technically, dynamically or performance wise. The 720S is better if you can get on with the HYPERcar looks and potential cost to own.
If you want a mediocre safe bet go Ferrari though.
Of course the best car of the lot though is .........
just like everyone else says ........
in a non biased way of course ........
the Lamborghini Huracan Performante

Anyone know what kind of residuals finance companies are using for 24/48 month timeframes? Trying to justify a 720s by selling up a few ponies in the stable which rarely get a look in.
my bank won't quote for electric /hybrid cars ( bar tesla ), what they call track-day cars, nor mclarenBeefmeister said:
The most depressing thing about the 720Ss on Auto Trader for me, are the colour choices. Four grey, four white and one black. One solitary orange.
It reflects the general populace's preference, even supercar owners are not immune. A similar example: of the 45 regular F12s on PH, roughly 2/3 are white/silver/black (i.e. not coloured), the remaining 1/3 are of course red. Only 3 of the 45 are otherwise. Colours are so uncommon these days you would think they would command a premium come resale, and thereby entice people to spec some interesting choices.McLaren Glasgow's new demo is in Fistral Blue, which is pretty different. Mine is MSO Lunar White, which at least is a different white!
I find it an exceptional car by the way, the breadth of it's abilities are quite a game changer. Highly recommend spending some decent time in one to get a good feel for just how good they are.

Lol. When will you get that the FUN in driving is not about pure speed that you cant exploit safely on the British Public Roads. The Lambo sounds and feels fast even at low speeds. You just cant beat a big normally aspirated engine in a supercar regardless of what the performance figures suggest. Its a dieing breed and one that will be sorely missed when everything ultimately goes turbo/ hybrid/ electric.
My 650S spider will out drag the Performante but its not about that, its more about feel, sound fun and excitement. Performance and dynamics are where the 720S is too good for its own good because it lacks soul. As a McLaren fan I have to say no one does theatre and drama better than Lamborghini.
Maybe the next LT will partly address this and that's where my money will be going when it comes out

The HP is almost half-a-minute faster than the 720S and 488 round the Ring.
It's like night and day.
If you want a proper driver's supercar, it's gotta be the Lambo, all day long.
The HP is the track focused version. Of course it’s going to be quicker, you googlestat-quoting, bullsh*t spouting megaspastic. It's like night and day.

How did you find the drive and performance in the 720S ?
I haven’t driven one yet, was trying to get figures sorted first to save wasting each other’s time.Edited by anonymous-user on Sunday 7th January 20:16
