Biggest selling point of the Performante for me is the normally aspirated V10 engine and the sound. Loved my Gallardo Performante which was a riot and so much fun but now they replaced the antiquated e-gear single clutch gearbox with a fantastic DCT gearbox in the Huracan its a much better car.

If its the last normally aspirated V10 with gen II huracan going hybrid it will be even more sort after.
The Huracan Performante is better than a speciale according to one Ferrari fanboy biggrin
Its certainly faster, better handling and sounds better IMHO. 3 years newer and with a list price less than used speciales its a no brainer if you can still get one

Why isn't the 720S quicker around the ring. What was it - 7.14 ?..
banghead

7:14 is a magazine lap. The same driver who drove that on the 720 did 7:13 on the 918 for SportAuto. You seriously think the 720 (without a cup tyre or trofeo) should be even faster?

P.S funnily enough no performante magazine ring laps have appeared yet. Curious especially given I believe SportAuto did have one around the ring last summer.....

I didn't look up what the 720 was wearing. Its an amazing performer, insane in fact, just not sure on its aesthetics..Going to take a look though to confirm.

you're being very diplomatic. the aesthetics from the front in any other colour than black or something really dark are imo awful.

Never you mind said:
Does anyone really buy this level of car based on lap times? Can't imagine anyone, who likes both, would pick on over the other based solely on it's lap time round a track.
Certainly never heard any of my supercar owning friends ever refer to lap times as a reason for buying a particular car. Personally really impressed with the 720S though. Put together a write up on my 1st Impressions: http://karenable.com/mclaren-720s-one-month-in/

It looks like the 720s's is properly quick on a track too. Apologies to Yipper but it looks like the Performante's fastest on any track ever ever ever crown has been dislodged by the 720s at Big Willow by Motortrend:-

http://www.motortrend.com/news/2018-mclaren-720s-f...

0.78 second faster at 1.21.75 by the same driver on the same track in similar (hot & dry) weather is pretty decent given that it was on standard road tyres rather than the optional 'Trofeo R' tyre. Takes nothing away from the Performante which is incredibly quick when compared to the 918 Spider and others, but that will hopefully put to bed any claims that the 720s won't go around corners.

I wonder what the Senna would do given that the Performante with all it's clever active aero is circa 4 seconds faster than the 'standard' Huracan scratchchin
The Huracan Performante has been (much) faster round at least 7 of the 9 major tracks where it has gone head-to-head with the 720S. And, all that, despite the 720S having 10-15% more power-to-weight.

His Yipness made about 5 squillion posts highlighting how the HP was way quicker than anything in existance (especially the 720S) and it was game over for every other manufacturer, so your figures are clearly wrong.

Had “THE CALL” ... My car is “factory and MSO complete” and ready to be shipped to the dealer.
Cannot wait to go and pick her up now .... the next two weeks will hopefully fly by.
Just keeping my fingers crossed that I like the gold wheels!

I just looked at your garage, you live the absolute dream. Goes without saying you'll be getting a thread going when you pick it up? Did you get a factory tour when you ordered an MSO build?

Thanks Aaron ... I didn’t ask for a tour as I have been lucky enough to visit the factory quite a few times over the years. On my most recent trip a few months ago, I managed to get a brief a glimpse of the new P15/Senna mid-build (from afar) before the reveal. McLaren seem very accomodating and I’m sure if any customer asked for a tour, they’d be able to arrange it.
I’m looking forward to getting this car more than most, namely because it’s very different.
I had my first Aventador for 3+ years, then got my SV, then the S. They’re all different enough, but obviously ‘feel’ quite similar. I’ve had the FF for over 3 years now and the Wraith is an altogether different prospect and whilst it is an absolutely fantastic car, it’s not a ‘set your pulses racing’ type of car, (nor is it meant to be) ... so I’m hoping the 720 will ‘feel’ very different/new. Not sure I’ll start a new thread, but I will post the obligatory photos when I finally get my grubby mits on her on the 1st-2nd March.
Cheers

Azores - because I want an Orange McLaren and I like sparkly paint
Lux - because I don't like alcantara - it looks cheap and reminds me of racket handle grips. I also love heated seats with cold air on the face.
Arizona Tan - because black leather is really grey and looks boring
Gorilla glass - because it's amazing inside with it
Sports exhaust - because I like the extra dBs
Stealth pack - because it matches the wheels
Carbon Primary Interior - I'm not a big fan of carbon (mostly it's frippery/non-functional - different weaves mixed with forged makes that obvious) but the steering wheel looks so much better than the standard with this
10 spoke wheels, diamond cut - I think they match the curvy body well
Azores brake callipers - to match the bodywork
Parking sensors - so I don't ding my car
Reversing camera - really useful if you've parked front first
B&W - I like my sounds
Track telemetry and camera - I'll be tracking it at some point
Luggage strap - because I'll be touring with it at some point

Looking forward to hearing how you think it compares to the Aventador

Congratulations, agree with you. Probably my favourite supercar just behind the F355.

Whats the legroom & driver space like in the 720s?..I am 6'5" with a 36" inside leg..had a few 458's ( all with the racing seats ) and fit fine in those, briefly had a Mac 570s and that was ok, but a bit tight on the legroom, used to fidget with the seat between moving back a bit for a nice back angle, knees round steering wheel , then to back rest more upright , little more legroom etc. currently in a 650S Spider, again which is ok, but wouldn't mind a bit of extra legroom.
Was thinking 570 spider, but going to push the boat out I think and go 720S...so how is the fit for taller chaps in relation to the other cars I mention, if anyone has such experience, thanks
