It’s a massive gamble as to whether a car will sell privately or not, but the market is definitely smaller...

I had my 66 plate M5 Competition and 66 plate individual M3 Competion for sale on Autotrader for over 6 weeks and dropped them down week by week and ended up with zero leads in the end. The M5 started at £53,950 and dropped to £49,950 and the M3 started at £54,500 and dropped to £51,000 with no serious takers after 6 weeks. Both where in immaculate condition, 6 months old and less than 4K miles each. I ended up px’ing them both is against the 650S and I did OK in the end, got slightly more than trade, so didn’t grumble, but the 650S was my perfect Spec and the deal was there, so was a no brainer in the end. He advertised them both and the M5 was sold within a week, for more than I ever had it advertised for!!!!

In the past I’ve also struggled to sell Lambo’s, an M6 Competition Edition, one of 8 in the UK and also struggled with my R8 GT Spyder, so I’ve come around to the fact that dealers will sell them if they are the right car far quicker. It’s from this that I’ve started a relationship with the dealer I got my 650S from to sell all my cars SOR for me in future for a set fee, it just seems easier, more straight forward and more sure.

I’d be happy to send you his details if you want to have a chat with him about yours, he may even buy it straight as they also do that...Can’t reccomend him enough! I’ll always deal with them now.
