650 delivery miles?
Discussion
I just saw this ad, for a 2015 with delivery miles.

It looks strangely cheap ? Should I be concerned it has not been used?

With the carbon tub the spiders are just so good a coupe is a rare beast indeed as 90% of people will opt for the spider which is like 3 cars in 1 and a relative bargain for the £20k difference. You can probably get yourself a reasonable used RHD spider for £25k more unless you are specifically looking at LHD
I understand the spider is the more preferred option, which is also reflected in prices of spider vs coupes. The relevant comparison here though has to be against other coupes, for which this is very cheap especially considering prices in continental Europe, which are at a premium to UK prices.eg if no one would have concerns about the car not being used you could easily buy it here and drive it over to Germany and sell it for a substantial premium.
Hence my concern, should I be worried it hasn’t been used? What if any costs could I expect, I assume it has a 3 yr factory warrant and presumably any issues would come up within the first year.

So you are thinking of buying it to sell it in Europe ? Cant imagine there is any money to be made in that at £140kHence my concern, should I be worried it hasn’t been used? Yep 3 year warranty - the ad states FSH so I assume its valid.
I dont understand the LHD mkt, but as a UK car its not good value, my silver, 4,500 mile, 2015, RHD, spider with higher spec (more carbon bits) is less than 10% more.
There is absolutely no reason why rhd cars have to be more expensive? Mclaren make a lot of rhd cars relatively, certainly vs say rhd Porsche GT cars as a % of overall production. If anything the rhd Mclarens should be under the lhd prices, like the lhd CSL market some years ago to take a somewhat extreme example. Or even the 6rs rhd market, for a long time due to overall higher % of rhd cars than usual they were not anything like the same premium as the 7rs rhd.I dont understand the LHD mkt, but as a UK car its not good value, my silver, 4,500 mile, 2015, RHD, spider with higher spec (more carbon bits) is less than 10% more.

Tom Hartley clearly wasn’t born yesterday. If it would be easy to sell it in Germany he would long have done that.
Agree with that, which brings me back to think it’s at a discount for being not used.I’m not looking to flip but am interested in owning a 650, especially as asking prices has come down over last months. Ideally I am after a LHD spider but have not found any for sale in the UK and on the continent they are still at a significant premium vs a RHD spider + hassle of 8mporting might mean gap is too large and I should just settle with a RHD

I know of a LHD Volcano Red 650s Spider that may still be for sale........I’m not looking to flip but am interested in owning a 650, especially as asking prices has come down over last months. Don’t worry, 650s prices will continue the downward trend now that the 570s Spider and 720s are out. McLaren are very good at making their own models very obsolete with the introduction of a new one...The Sports series is supposed to be the entry level, yet a 570 Spider with just 570hp, no aero or active suspension is now over £200k...WTF? You were paying less than this last year for a 650s. Madness.I’m not looking to flip but am interested in owning a 650, especially as asking prices has come down over last months. I think you will find a 570 Spider is £165k. What's the competition for a convertible with a carbon tub, and 570+ BHP at that price? I've been looking around for alternatives and I don't see why you think a 570 Spider is 'Madness'....onlogbook.com said:
I wouldn’t touch any car with such low miles with a barge pole. Simply asking for trouble imho. I have no mechanical or technical expertise to support this view!
I would normally agree, but this one's only been parked 2 years, hardly decades of storage.Tyres may have flat-spotted but all the other rubber won't be any worse than a car that's been lightly used of the last 2 years. The only nagging doubt would be the infamous gearbox oil seal which reports suggest are more prone to fail on cars which are used less.
Ensure you keep the McLaren warranty, check everything electrical works then drive and enjoy.
