I've never had to use it myself for recovery but they do the covered transport in both directions for any warranty work
Not heard of any issues in the Mclaren Owners Club re overseas recovery other than replacement vehicles not being McLarens (!)
The Mclaren extended warranty includes recovery but it does not cover overseas and is UK only. Not heard of any issues in the Mclaren Owners Club re overseas recovery other than replacement vehicles not being McLarens (!)
When a 12C has an issue its usually a sensor, nothing that would stop you. I have undertaken 2 large continental trips of 2,500 miles each and never had a problem. I take an OBD reader with me, just in case, so I can clear any faults if they crop up.
There are 2 levels of warning lights on a McLaren. If the warning light is yellow/orange it should be fine to keep driving, if its red you must stop asap. Having a red light is very rare, not had one myself in 2 years and 12,000 miles and don't know many people that have. My car has had a few little niggles but they have all been fixed under warranty and nothing has stopped me, the drivetrains are very reliable.
These cars are very finely tuned and have lots of sensors to ensure everything is within parameters and they can be a little too keen to tell us. If they are yellow/orange they can usually be cleared, in conjunction with a call to a McL dealer of course. Almost always the warning light does not return but if it does then there could be an issue and that's the time to arrange a pick-up.
